If Robert Marve goes to Miami we go after Cameron Newton
Michael McNeil - FSU
John Brown - 50-50 Bama UF
Sidell Corley - 80% Bama
Marquis Maze - Bama if offer not pulled for shopping around
Brandon Gibson - Silent Bama
Joe McKnight - USC or Bama, pressure in state to much
Luther Davis - Mama says Bama = more local pressure
Allen Bailey - Georgia
Noel Devine - 70-30 FSU over Bama
Lennon Creer - Bama

If we don't get Maze, do we go after Andre Smith's little brother, Chris?

I know from personal experience and having friends apply that UF is a lot harder to get into than FSU, Bama, Auburn(easily) and a lot of other schools. This is for regular students to get into the school though, i dont believe this applies to athletes since all they have to do is meet the minimum requirements which we have already stated are very even. I think UF is ahead of most SEC schools outside of Vandy academically but as far as athletes qualifying i dont think it makes THAT much of a difference.

Sorry if I sound a little surprised, but when did UF become an elite East Coast school? ;) I'm sure it's a great college, not trying to slam it, but what has changed recently to make UF a school which only certain "student-athletes" can attend? Or has UF always been this way?

This isn't the first time in the past couple of weeks I've seen UF people suggesting rigorous academic standards must be met by football recruits.
Saw the smiley so I am assuming you are joking, but it has long been passed around that he was not able to schedule an official visit due to not being qualified or at least at a level that was close enough. I was not saying that AL had lower standards but asking if anyone knew one way or another. Would not say rigorous academic standards but to some recruits that might be the case. As has been posted UF's standards appear to be near the top end of the SEC but I doubt it is by too much. To my knowledge it has been that way for a while.

Forgot to mention - we have missed out on several good prospects over the last few years due to them not having some kind of math credit that other schools did not require. Not the case here though.

Sorry i meant UF instead of FSU my bad!
We are looking to bring in two QBs and after Cameron Newton commited, four star John Brantley commited to UF. He may be looking at other options with Tebow and Brantley in the picture.
Everything I have seen is that CN was not phased by the JB committment and that he has not waivered. He has a lot of confidence in his abilities which is good for a QB. I think JB wants to redshirt so that is one thing to consider. Several feel that CN could give TT a run for the money, once he adapts to the system even though he is not near as hyped. Personally, I would rather keep him than JB. I think he will battel Waggoner for the backup spot while JB redshirts.

Gator, what about Jamar Hornsby? I remember him as being a guy that was going to UF that as best I can remember had questionable academic credentials to say the least. How did he ever make it into UF?

I think we lost a great one in RM. Nothing wrong with Fanuzzi, but RM looked like an arm and a half. Fanuzzi does look like he runs better though. Also, he does look like he can grow a lot more than RM. As a freshman though I think we lost out. At the same time, I would not be surprised not even a little, Fanuzzi ends up the better QB in year 4.

Remember that as well and know that he got in but don't know what it took or how "creative" it was. Do you remember if he was bottoming out on grades, test scores, classes or both?

All I am saying is that it was reported early in the year that JB was not able to schedule an official visit to UF due to qualification issues. That was back when the other Lakeland players were making committments and JB had the Gators as his top team so I don't necessarily think it is the usual "we lost him becuse he couldn't make it in" remarks which fans of all teams love to toss around. I think he is scheduled to make a visit now so I am assuming that he is much "closer" to qualifying, or at least enough to have the ok from admissions.

I don't know exact details about his situation obviously but If I remember correctly it was a very low test score that was going around on him. For all I know he could have retaken the test and done much better, but from what I remember being posted about his score, that would have been some sort of miracle. Anyway, just saw him listed on ya'lls roster and it got me to wondering.

I think you are correct, and do not know what his final test score ended up being. Have the feeling he blew off the first test figuring that football was all he needed, got a rude awakening, and after a few tries managed to bring it up a good bit which was just enough to qualify. Were I not a FL fan I would have brought it up also. :)

I think we have a good chance of landing Noel Devine but landing him and Lennon Creer would be slim. If Bama can get McKnight in for a visit we may have a shot otherwise I think he goes to USC not LSU.

How good of a chance do you reckon we have at Devine:conf3:
If today was NSD I would say we have the bast shot at signing Devine but with still a week to work with I don't think Creer or McKnight are impossible. Creer is probably the least likely but only using my knowledge about his process.
