They told me that they really felt sorry sometimes for his staff because he really rode them hard, harder than the players. I guess that's why he had alot of turnover with those guys in BR.

On a sidenote, I hope the NFL made him more mellow, because I actually like his staff right now.
I wouldn't count on that. Remember this is the guy who turned down dinner with the President to prepare for a pre-season game. In actuality, his relative lack of success in the NFL may make him even more driven in the college game.

At this point, you would have to think that anyone agreeing to work for him (most of the staff have worked for him before) knows how he operates and what his expectations are. If they weren't willing to accept that, they wouldn't have taken the job; see Jimbo Fisher.

Not to knock coach CJF, but I'm very glad we ended up with CMA instead :BigA:

Hopefully Hall and Brown will straighten up and get back on the field for the Vandy game.

There are different styles of leadership, each with different strong suits associated with it.

CNS is a disciplinarian. This style can be very effective, but only if the leader is more demanding of himself than anyone else, and consistent in behavior. I don't think that either are a problem for CNS. Even so, there is usually a short, eventful period when a new leader of this type arrives. I think we're seeing some of that. Hopefully, the adjustment for the team will be quick.

BTW, CPB was a disciplinarian, too. Here's hoping our team responds as well to CNS as they did to the one they named an animal after...;)

I agree. I think his staff probably knew his reputation before they came to T-Town. In fact, I think he was already close to Coach Steele and Coach Pendry. Not sure if he has a background with Coach Applewhite, but I imagine any butt-chewings would probably go to Pendry rather than Applewhite if there was one to be given. On that note, I can't see Joe Pendry taking many of them.

i have complete confidence in the coach in dealing with player problems. i do not need to know what the problem was. i am really concerned though that talent like prince hall, is supposedly having trouble picking up the defense. he was as good a freshman in the sec as there was. he is a beast. i just feel, there is no way he can be out of the defense this year. either as one of the linebackers or why not def end.

I don't think Applewhite had any prior connection with him; but I imagine he was smart enough to have an idea of what he was in for. Ambitious people are often willing to put up with all kinds of abuse if it furthers their own career.

CNS might be more willing to take out his anger on older coaches; I worked for a Chief Counsel who was like that, a real hard case but generally left us young guys alone and beat up the older lawyers. But I wouldn't take the job hoping for that; I would just be prepared to take my lumps like everyone else.

what I would like to know is why is all this happening in the past month. I read on espn all the time about players getting suspended for various things all throughout the summer and spring, and (to my knowledge) until this past month we've been staying out of trouble. Now we've got guys getting in trouble left and right.

Why now!!!???:conf3:

The guys are getting in trouble recently because they have been breaking rules recently. You're going to have to ask them why they feel the need to act up right before the season starts.

some folks had too easy of a go at it when CMS was around. Some aren't adjusting well to discipline.
Suspending players for Western Carolina is not much different than CMS suspending them for La Monroe. Not pot stirring but c'mon that's not real harsh and maybe the situation doesn't merit harsh. So as far as we know he has not done anything Shula didn't do in regards to punishment.

Also when you say Shula you include Joe Kines - (bowl game...casinos)

It's too early to tell what kind of discipline Saban is practicing.

I know we think he is tougher (duh) but lets wait and see what happens to some of the players who publicly got in trouble

NOT POT STIRRING - just saying wait until facts are there before you reach a conclusion

Was P. Hall not going to be in charge of calling the D. Are we now leaving this up to a True Freshman or is Mustang (First Time starter) going to make the calls?

By the way really really happy this is game week, Roll Tide Roll:biga2:

I knew it was coming. I knew it. Someone must have forgot to give him his Turrets typing syndrome medicine. I just thought of a good saying. A TIGER cant change its stripes! LOL

And anyway, if itd been CMS, Hall would've been suspended the first game and then KB would've been out for Vandy so a few guys stupidity wouldn't have hurt the whole team.
