I have been following recruiting for quite some time. I also know that you can't compare recruits from the prior years to the current class because every kid is different and just because one kid did one thing a certain way doesn't mean another kid will do the same thing. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the recruitment of Jeremey Maclin, but he was an OU commit and switched to Mizzou (long story) and Missouri fans are already comparing their recruitment in hope that he too will switch. In his interview that was specifically brought up and I am as confident that we will keep him as any recruit we've signed, but hell he could have a complete 180 and change before NSD you just never know.

I keep reading that Durron grew up a Bama fan, but you can't put too much stock into those things. For example, Miles Shuler of last years class said if he got an OU offer he would commit as he grew up a die-hard OU fan and he ended up going to Rutgers. Adrian Peterson grew up a Texas fan, and ended up at OU. Jameis Winston apparently grew up an OU fan too and we offered, but I doubt we even get a visit.
not going to bash you OU is my second favorite team. But in recruiting things change happens every year, just like Maclin. If he visits BAMA things will get interesting especially if Gunner commits here. Winston while says he grew up an OU fan is a bama fan as well and has been on campus more than some of our commits and signees from last year. Lastly keep posting don't just lurk

Yeah I know that things happen and can change really fast in recruiting, my point was that you can't compare one kid to another because every kid is different. Like I said, he could do a complete 180 from where he is at now and not sign with OU but as of now I feel confident he is going to remain solid until NSD.

OK Sooner13 we will 'let' you keep Neal and we will throw in two mutually recruited 2013 3-star prospects of your choice, along with the option on Jameis Winston if he goes to MLB and returns later to football. All you have to do is agree to let Bama sign both Kiel and DBG. That is three maybe four prospects for the two prospects. What do you say? ;)

I'm going to have to respectfully decline your offer .

As far as Kiel being down to OU and Indiana I think that rumor is false. I believe his brother is a QB at IU and I doubt he wants to compete with his brother for the starting job.

How about if we throw in a 2014 potential All-American kicker that the Bama staff is keeping an eye on to sweeten the deal?

That is from the OU 247 site. I'm not sure how valid it is considering I think he has said he did not want to compete with his brother.
I would doubt Alabama wouldnt be in the mix considering his visits here recently and in the past. Thats not say he's a lock or that he wont go to OU or Indiana for that matter, but I have to believe that Bama is a legit contender, if for no other reasons based on his own actions.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been hearing ONLY OU and Bama for both Kiel and DGB. Even though Missouri is considered to be in the top 3 for both DGB it is really unlikely that either one of them ends up there. In my opinion, whoever get's Kiel is also going to get DGB. How is the depth chart UA looking? If he comes to OU, it could be a few years before he sees the field because we already 4 QB's on campus, and if OU lands Kiel and Landry returns for his senior year there is going to be 5 scholarship QB's.
Since OU already has 4 QBs on scholarship, I personally think they should withdraw their offer for Gunner. Any chance of that happening, Sooner13?

Haha quarterback is a position that you can lose depth at in a hurry. Our current QB's are Landry Jones RS JR, Blake Bell RS FR(Most people believe he is going to replace Landry when the time comes), Drew Allen RS Sophomore, and Kendal Thompson who will be redshirting this year. Kendal Thompson is a nice QB, but he doesn't really fit with the system we run, so many people think he may end up at WR or something and if Landry leaves after this year that only leaves us with 2 QB's on scholarship.

Well he's not deciding Sunday hopefully he will come back for a visit and then decide.
Yes there are people saying that Kiel posted on his FB that he intends to announce at a later date, whatever that means. Even when he talks it is encrypted. ;) I don't know if it is good or bad that he is taking more time. Only time will tell.

Given the timing of this, I'd say this bodes better for OU than us. I hope we can get this kid back to Ttown and in a hurry. I happen to agree with Big Easy Tider, I think it will be very difficult in the end to beat out Oklahoma for GK. We don't run the Spread-O and OU does.

Not quite sure i see big differences in the O OU runs and what we "want" to run. Its not like OU lines up 5 wide every play. If we could pass the way our staff has been wanting to the past year or so, we'd be seeing very similar systems. Part of that has to do with our QB. Not that Gmac wasnt the man, but theres a clear difference between him and Sam Bradford. I also wouldn't let point totals confuse you, big 12 d's are overrated small and slow and make offenses in that league look much better than they are.

I dont styles being the killer here, OU's greatest advantage here is that they are closer to home, otherwise He's basically got a choice between two schools that are very similar, may actually come down to the coach and his staff.
