Busy summer for Rivals250 QB
Rivals250 quarterback Star Jackson plans to narrow the focus of his recruitment toward the end of summer. For now, the talented signal caller from Lake Worth (Fla.) High has his eye on a number of programs and is getting ready for a busy summer travel schedule.

"Recruiting has been going all right," Jackson said. "It's slowed down a bit now that they can't contact you. But I've been hearing (by text message and letters) from all of the schools that have been recruiting me."

The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder holds offers from Alabama, Minnesota, Rutgers, West Virginia, Central Florida, South Florida, Florida International and Georgia (verbal). Several of those programs have been showing him the most interest.

The Mountaineers are another program that Jackson maintains interest in.

"It's just like Alabama in that I like what is behind the program," Jackson said. "I like how they are coming up."

But Mr. Jackson more people will watch you play in one game in T town, than 2 or 3 games in Morgoon Town.

Better to revive a thread than start a new "Whats the word?" post.

Does anyone know this kids confirmed stats? Seems to be a bit lanky. Would definitely need to red shirt and submerge himself in the system.

I know that he was alleged to be committing somewhere around the 23rd. Do we have a back up, should he choose to not roll with the Tide? Who would that back up be?

Most believe, due to the interview he gave (where he let it slip that he couldn't wait to join the class with TL and BS) that he is 'bamas to lose.

As for the back up plan, I have no clue....maybe McCarron next year?

Thanks, I missed that one. Must have had a wee bit o' cranial rectumitis.

How old is that article? Seems like it's outdated to me. I don't think we'll be disappointed come Aug. 23rd.

First of all, I hope I am wrong. I know the guy is a 4-Star recruit, but I just don't see the next great qb, ready to take us to a championship. I saw his video on youtube. Don't get me wrong, he does have talent (good touch, can scramble, etc.), but he just doesn't look like the caliper qb we need. He seems to throw a lot of balls up for grab and I am not sure he can throw the deep ball (even though he throws 20-25 yd posts). Before you shoot arrows, I hope I am wrong. Maybe I will get more excited at a later date???

Uhm, I don't see these passes thrown "up for grabs." I just see a fututre 5* QB with a rifle arm and speed to burn. Dude, there are some in Florida already comparing him to JaMarcus. He is the real deal.

He's good, no doubt, but he does seem to throw the ball high a bit much for my liking. Those passes in the middle where he makes his receivers reach above their head to catch the ball will get someone hurt at the college level. That can be corrected, and needs to be.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. As I understand it, he doesn't have a lot of talent around him on his team other than Joe Looney (needless to say he doesn't catch many passes), and Star makes something out of nothing. Not to mention, the evaluations he has gotten this summer have been nothing but positive and that he is just tapping into his potential. He probably has not improved as much as a football player at any time more than he has this summer, due to camps and what not and obviously coaches have taken notice and liked what they saw.

Brodie Croyle never threw a high ball. He threw a long ball. JPW throws a much higher arching ball than Brodie ever thought about throwing.

Personally this guy will very good wearing crimson.

Most QB's are busts (not saying Jackson will be). But it just seems like QB's, more than other positions, are harder to judge. I find it hard to ever get hyped up on a QB in HS.

For those of you that thinks he is the next Joe Namath (5 star), why isn't he being recruited by Florida, FSU, LSU, Tennessee, etc.? He lists Rutgers, West Virginia (no offense, but I would like to think our program is more nationally known), South Florida, etc., etc. Trust me, 5 Star qbs don't fly under the radar and haven't in years. If he was great or had potential to be great, are you telling me they wouldn't be after him? Like I said, I wish him the best and will support him faithfully if he signs, but I do have my doubts he is what we need. I know I sound terrible, but I am looking for CNS to sign another John Elway, Joe Montana, Kenny Stabler, etc. We haven't had a national qb in years (hopefully, Brodie will change that).

2005- Brodie Croyle

Also, Give JPW a chance. He had a very good sophomore year and still has two to go.

I guess coming in 3rd at the elite 11 isn't proof enough for you guys? That's jr film, he's proven himself against the top high school qbs in the country. Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe he wants the ball high? That's where his guy can get it or run under it. If the staff proclaimed him no.1, that's all I need. They obviously have seen something they like in him. FWIW I believe BG was first on our board before he committed to Nebraska, his stock has sky-rocketed as well.

Jay Barker wasn't great, just a winner! I will and cannot judge any QB till they have proven themselves on the field for Bama. So I trust the coaches on any recruit they sign. Thats the only aproach us fans should have towards any kid. I believe our coaches are gonna make a winner out of whoever plays QB. I hope!;):biggrin2:

I would consider Phillip Rivers a 5 star qb and he flew under the radar. Can you name a school that wouldn't take him if they knew how he would turn out? Can you name any busts at qb CNS has recruited? CMA turned Rice's triple option qb into a spread qb in one year. SJ is good, borderline great to everyone but you "armchair recruiters". Sit back, relax and save your questioning for something else.

Check the facts, FSU and Auburn have offered Star Jackson.
