Hill is close to Derrick Henry in weight. Henry was 242 lbs at Alabama. Hill is 244 lbs. But Hill ain't cut from that mold. No one is.
Special teams can absolutely decide close games. Maybe they get it figured outHe mentioned he was concerned about the special teams, punting and kicking in particular.
Yeah, there is no category for DH to fit in. He's it. No peers.Hill is close to Derrick Henry in weight. Henry was 242 lbs at Alabama. Hill is 244 lbs. But Hill ain't cut from that mold. No one is.
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has paid attention.I'm sure it's not a surprise to the team.
I think Derrick Henry was a generational RB . JMHO. Having said that, if Hill just proves he’s a practically guaranteed 2-3 yards, I’d be more than happy.Yeah, there is no category for DH to fit in. He's it. No peers.
And many on here wanted him to play LB since he was just too big to be a RBI think Derrick Henry was a generational RB . JMHO. Having said that, if Hill just proves he’s a practically guaranteed 2-3 yards, I’d be more than happy.
Hey not every player can be a 2-way star at RB and LB like Jimmy JohnsAnd many on here wanted him to play LB since he was just too big to be a RB.
I will fall on my sword and admit to being in the camp that thought he should change positions, but for me it was to EDGE (kinda an LB for us) and not because he was too big to be an RB, but because EDGE guys make a lot more $$ in the NFL and he's close to the perfect prototype for the position. Typically they also have longer careers than an RB, so the lifetime earnings potential is, on average, much higher. And many on here wanted him to play LB since he was just too big to be a RB.

i remember seeing henry (still #27) play in person the first time at the 2014 seccg and being absolutely amazed at how big and fast he was when he broke off a couple of runsHill is close to Derrick Henry in weight. Was Derrick the closest to Herschel, since Herschel?Yeah, there is no category for DH to fit in. He's it. No peers.
Direct answer is probably so. Two different eras of course and going from fault-prone memory here but i think of Herschel as faster and used more as a receiver than Henry out of the backfield. Derrick in my mind the more dominant pure runner over time. Herschel had all that time in USFL, too.Was Derrick the closest to Herschel, since Herschel?
hmmm - really had to think about this one and look into it a bit. Herschel was pretty dang unique as well, but maybe wasn't as unique as DH. Herschel and Bo were in that same era. Even though Bo didn't really make as big a splash in the pro game he was probably a freakier pure athlete than Herschel. Eric Dickerson was also of a somewhat similar build and impact in the same era. There were a lot of really, really good RBs in then. Was Derrick the closest to Herschel, since Herschel?
Exactly how it worked late with DH. Even if we didn't score, it was a great way to bleed the clock to preserve a win!One of my favorite football memories of all time is the UTe game where we got the ball on about our 10 yard line or so with something over 8 minutes to go in the game. We started pounding with Henry. Sometimes up the gut, sometimes off tackle. But never wide, unless he just bounced it out.
Everybody in the stadium knew what was coming. But UTe couldn't stop it no matter how many they put in the box. 4 yards, 5 yards, 7 yards, 3 yards, 6 yards. Absolutely hammering with a 12-pound sledge.
Starting from our own 10 or so, we essentially told UTe, "Here comes Henry....see if you can stop it." They couldn't, and we ran the clock out, sitting at about the UTe 10 +/- when the clock hit 0:00.
Good times.
Follow up: Dang...I just checked and that was the 2015 season -- 10 years ago.
That season was probably the last truly old-school Offense we had that primarily operated from a physical rush first mentality. One of my favorite football memories of all time is the UTe game where we got the ball on about our 10 yard line or so with something over 8 minutes to go in the game. 2015 was a season of beauty. Underrated amongst the Saban seasons. That season was probably the last truly old-school Offense we had that primarily operated from a physical rush first mentality.
Henry's season was incredible.
395 Carries (SEC Record)
2,219 Yards Rushing (SEC Record)
28 Rushing TD's (SEC Record)
10 Years later they are all still SEC Records and probably will stay that way for a LONG time.
From what I've read about Hill, he is very athletic for his size and is a very, very good receiver out of the backfield. With Jam Miller and Hill, we could potentially have a lethal RB combination of quickness and power. Jam has enough quick twitch in him he can get through the holes, even though he doesn't have great breakaway speed. Then we could use Hill as the change of pace back who is more bulk and power on top of being able to catch the ball out of the backfield. He apparently is hard to bring down and that can wear defenses out in the second half.Hill is close to Derrick Henry in weight. Henry was 242 lbs at Alabama. Hill is 244 lbs. Which Washington RB is the one to watch? I'm certain Grubb is salivating on the toys he has at his disposal with this offense. They just need to get Ty as comfortable as possible and as soon as possible in the gameday offense. If we can do that, we're off and running to contend for a title.
