Rader rumors combined...

OK, let's go completely over the edge. Let's say Rader is out. Who comes in to replace him? Is this the chance for Rush Probst? Would Shula pull a Nutt (no pun intended) and hire a guy from the HS ranks?

I'd love to see former Bama OC and current Tulsa OC, Charlie Stubbs.

Brilliant mind, great character, good recruiter, uncanny playcaller.

It'll never happen, though. Mike Shula is the playcaller at Alabama, and Stubbs' system isn't a classic power pro set.

Gulf, do we know for a fact that Shula calls the plays? I would personally like to see us go get someone from the NFL like ND did for an assistant. Stubbs would be awesome BTW, I agree.

I agree that Stubbs is a great OC, but I have concerns about him ever since hearing that he played an active role in the NCAA investigation.

I know some subscribe to the 'blindly defend any coach that wears Crimson' mentality, but we can clearly do better than Radar.

Come on

Shula gives the plays to the backup QBsigniler. They are right next to each other on the sidelines. Plus Rader has been quoted as saying CMS calls the plays. This has been explained many times here over the last 2 seasons...

Rader skipped the rest of the answer..."but, of course my agent has been in close contact with Rice for two weeks." :)

He didn't say he wasn't interested!

As far as I know Coach Rader hasn't committed to anyone except Alabama but there is some smoke from a distant fire (sorry Spot). I can't confirm if he has even interviewed for the job. All I know is what a couple of sports casters have said, what a couple of people have said and what is on a couple of message boards and that's it.

How "active role" is defined varies from one person to the next. My understanding is that Stubbs simply cooperated with investigators, and told the truth. He's Mormon, said to be very religious, and someone who is morally incapable of lying.

The offensive scheme is Shula's, not Rader's. Our QB's have developed reasonably well this season under Rader. Wilson looks particularly good. Rader's a pretty decent QB coach. Shula calls the plays, too.

Not many people were complaining about unimaginative play calling or bad game planning when we were whupping up on the two SEC East offensive "geniuses..." Take out two playmakers on offense, and all of the sudden it's time to get rid of the OC.

Only at Alabama

:D

You people who want to get rid of Rader have it all wrong. The solution to our offensive problems is to FIRE JOE KINES!!!!

You are exactly right!! If Joe Kines' defense wasn't so dominant, the offense would have had more time to rest on the sidelines. They were just too tired to perform after only have three plays to rest. ;)

If Radar leaves hire homer smith

If Dave Radar does take the coaching job at Rice, Homer Smith would be an excellent choice. He is an excelllent oc as well as an excellent offensive play caller.

OMG Where to begin here......Homer is NOT interested in any job . PERIOD. Rader is NOT gone. WE (fans) do NOT choose who is hired or fired or wahtever in between. "WE" don't know enough about who would be interested or NOT - "WE" don't know who is even qualified past them being a "good guy" & a nice guy & a good former player or former coach here or there- Ooooo PLEASE, this is somewhere between sad & hysterical - if you only knew how often coaches laugh & make jokes outta the very comments I've read on this thread & several others today.......

2 words: Chill Pill.

The reason why are here is because we are Bama fans with opinions. Sorry but it's not against the law to have an opinion.....heck it's not even against the law to think that MAYBE our coaches could do better than they are!

I like Dave and think he's a good guy, I just don't think he's a good OC. If you think he's a great OC, more power to you.

Personally I just want us to have an offense as good as our defense.

They have a name for teams like that: National Champions.

Merciful Heavens --- GOSH - I hate this for all these coaches.......

Why? If you think any Bama coaches read any of these boards, then you are mistaken.

And they get pay much more than anyone here to deal with this stuff.

This thread is absolutely hilarious!

You nailed it RamJam. But apparently all of those points must be made over and over and over.
