Not a terrible ranking of the championships IMO.

It's weird that the 2009 season feels like it was ages ago, because we've had so many championships (SEC or NCs) since then.

The biggest reason why 1941 will never get dropped from our list of championships is that it really doesn't matter. Who cares if we count it or don't count it? It mattered more in the 90s when we wore the list of 12 like a uniform and waved that flag constantly. We've won so much since CNS got here that I think the total number has become irrelevant.

Think of all the gorillas we've gotten off our backs since 2008...

1. Won the SECCG
2. Won a NC
3. Beat Texas
4. Beat ND in a game that decided the NC
5. Been in the hunt for a NC at some point in every season
6. Stopped counting wins just to become bowl-eligible (I was a student from 2000-2004 and it's sad that we got excited with a 6th win)
7. Had the same HC for more than 4 years
8. Won so much the whole nation has "Bama Fatigue"

I'm sure there's more, but that is just a short list of things I know we've achieved/overcome in the last 8 seasons. So I don't care how many championships people say we have because our trophy case is too full and shiny to get an accurate count anyway. RTR

Next time we win one we should just drop 41 and stay at sixteen. Or change our claim to 45.
Id rather we just claim '66 any argument against it is lame. 11-0, a 34-7 victory over Nebraska in the Sugar Bowl finished #3 even though AP/UPI awarded ND and Michigan State after their tie. People want to claim bias in the NCAA/ ESPN now they should really go back and look at some of the history of the 60's & 70's.

same, though not my senior year it should have been ;)
mine should have been 90-91. i ended up graduating in the middle of summer 92 and stayed around t-town two more semesters taking a couple of courses thinking i would head to grad school.

i considered going the walter route, but moved to atlanta instead ;)

after the early florida loss, the '91 team was a lot of fun to follow.

My favorite is the 78 team, The Goal Line Stand. But I have to rank the 92 team as being one of the best. We were not given a chance and that team played like its life depended on it.

1973 will always be a special one for me. It was the first one I was old enough to truly appreciate. I still can't stand Notre Dame.

1992 will always be my favorite, it was my senior/last year in tuscaloosa
Quite possibly still my favorite though this last one is pretty close (as well as the 2011 and 1978).

If anyone thinks the trash talk from Michigan State and Clemson (and even Ohio St *this* year from their butt-hurt) was bad, it doesn't even come close to the Miami team trash talk and antics that season. I still love watching Bama emasculate that team on old video. :biggrin2:

From an overall perspective (team and individual achievements and awards), IMO this season has been the highlight for me over the 57 years I`ve been watching Alabama football. Heisman, all those other great awards DH won, All Americans, Rimington, Joe Moore (O line), SEC Champs, National Champions. This is the most "awarded" Alabama team in history I believe.

Agree wholeheartedly!! Probably my own most satisfying win.

To me that would be like Auburn claiming 2004

Considering I was only 6 when the 1992 championship was won, I have to go with the all the recent winnings as my favorite. This year probably the most because of what they had to overcome. 2009 was special because we were so close the previous year, and it just seemed like the monkey was finally off our backs. I am enjoying this run since it is the first in my lifetime that I can remember.

It is what it is.
I don't disagree. I see why the average fan has a problem with '41. However, I don't have a problem with '41 knowing there are years like 45 or 66 or 77 knowing we got slighted.

But, if we changed it to '45 some would have a problem with that too.
