Ray Hudson could emerge as one of Bama's all time greats. Most RBs would have become gun shy and tentative following that first quarter fluke fumble. Ray continued to churn away, combining speed and power to pick up yardage in the clutch. He continued to break the spirit of the Ole Miss D with his graceful screen pass for a TD and fourth quarter first downs. On one play in particular, an Ole Sis defender planted his elbow squarely into Ray's chinstrap AFTER Ray was down and proceeded to mouth off to him following that blantantly dirty and illegal tactic. Ray glanced at the jerk, said nothing, trotted back to the huddle, and galloped down the sidelines to the promised land a few plays later.

Hudson, Darby, Castille, and McClain give the Tide a powerful stable of RBs, and Coach Shula is putting them to good use this year.

In the fourth quarter, the offensive line was literally burying Rebel defenders in the turf. During Darby's fine first down scampers late in the fourth quarter, that Ole Miss defensive line looked like the remnants of Pickett's charge at the battle of Gettysburg-Rebel bodies sprawled all over the field!
