Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates

I wonder if he and Tony Brown are becoming a package deal. Sounds like they are really good friends and hung out together at the Bama game. Now, they are going to Texas together. I would think LF is going just to support Tony and to get some free stuff. If they are a pkg deal, LSU just got a bigger leg up. I think Tony Brown will end up at LSU with his sister already there on track scholly.

No reason to believe they will be a package deal, and all signs in recent weeks on Brown have pointed to him going to A&M. That could obviously change if Sumlin leaves College Station, but for whatever reason having his sister in Baton Rouge doesn't seem like it has created any real favors for the Bayou Bengals.

Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates

Burton Burns visited with Fournette in NOLA earlier this week, and he too will be in Tuscaloosa shortly on an official visit.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of that conversation. After watching the Iron Bowl, I'm sure Fournette voice some very real concerns over the tailback rotation and whether or not he will get a chance to meaningfully play early. Valid questions, too, I'm afraid.

Easy answer for Burns: "Leonard, if we had you in that game, we'd have gotten that 4th and 1."

And with that response, Leonard comes to town with a sense of entitlement and expectation of starting over TJ, Drake and anyone else.

Or it gives LF assurance that if he comes in and outworks other players that he will get a chance to play.

Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates

I've seen a few interviews he's done on NOLA.com and when asked about Bama's depth at RB after last year's recruiting class, he basically said that he loves competition and our stacked depth chart won't impact his decision. Hopefully he meant that!

Meh, lighten up. It was mostly a joke, although if he's concerned about PT you have to make him see that that's really up to him and we aren't afraid to play the best guy regardless of class.

Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates

Finally some real news:

Fournette will be announcing his commitment on January 2nd, which is also the day we'll be playing Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.

Interesting timing, to say the least. LSU fans will be more paranoid than Area 51ers.

Noon Eastern on January 1st.

And again, it may be nothing. It just seems a bit strange that he would announce, while Alabama's in town, on an otherwise random Thursday a month before NSD. I don't know if there's anything to it -- and I kind of doubt there is -- but rest assured the LSU conspiracy theorists will be out in full swing.
