Recruiting Weekend Master Merged Thread

Seems to me internet chatter has really picked up on Upchurch in the last 5-7 days or so. Has there been any developments? Sorry if this is repetitive. I had pretty much scratched him off of my list....

He did name Alabama as his slight leader.

2 out of the following would make this recruiting season for me:

Upchurch/Ford/Simpson

The Mike Davis story is certainly mysterious. I can't find out anything through the normal channels, and the others schools message boards are virtually silent, except for one thing: the fans don't have him too high on their wish list relative to their other targets. I've been under the impression that he was high on our staff's board, that is until now. I understand he is a good student, although this is not necessarily a great indicator of character.
Can anyone do better than mere speculation on this story?

Just by reading the article I thought he was leaning towards Clemson.

He talked about his two leaders Clemson and Kentucky and Davis left 3 reasons for Kentucky. But one of them had the statement "they run the ball like Clemson." Which means he likes our running game also. He left 4 reasons for Clemson. What is other people's opinion?

Personally, I really like the kid. He has always been honest with us and other schools and has never used Clemson to get other colleges to look at him. I hope both Davis' come to Clemson, but I really like the combination of talent and personality with Mike Davis.

I guess this means we are off his radar screen.

Marlon Davis changed his visit to later. Do not believe Anthony Johnson or Derek Pegues made the trip. Charles Hoke will come after his bball game tonight. As far as I know at this point-- which is subject to change-- that is who is here.

DE Worthington skipped a basketball game to come down today. Mike Ford had a banquet and will be here tomorrow. I don't like that he missed today, but at least maybe he'll get the bulk tomorrow.

Recruiting Weekend Master - Merged

Rivals rated #7, 4 star RB James Davis was THOROUGHLY impressed with Alabama this weekend and has us as his leader "by far." He said he will take his visit to Clemson but Bama will be tough to beat.

Needless to say, this is a surprise. It will get interesting with the other 3 RBs on the list. More updates when they come out.

thanks for the update....keep them coming. If we do end up signing James Davis, along with Coffee and Sharrief.....do we sing another RB?? Do we have enough space for 4 RB's in this class? And if we do go after 4....who? Upchurch, Simpson, Mike Davis??? Wow.....we are landing a great class. Now we just need Trott and Rouse to ice the cake on a top 10 class. RTR!

Recruiting Weekend II: Doug Worthington

4 star DE and OSU commit Doug Worthington had his best visit by far. I still think he stays with OSU, but he said if it looks like they will get into more trouble, Bama would be his #1.

It's going to get interesting. I just don't know if 2 more will commit. If we have 2 that want to commit, I don't think we can turn them down. Hopefully, we'll here more out of Upchurch and Ford soon.

Davis claimed he almost commited to the staff but wants to take his Clemson visit b/c they offered him first.

well aware an ncaa investigation can take some time to complete and actuall penalties if any are at least 4 years away or longer.

The news about James Davis is really great. I had given up on him long ago. But I was expecting to hear something about Peek and Deaderick.

With only 5-6 slots left:
Offense (3 slots)

RB>Upchurch, Davis(mike out, james in), Ford, Simpson.
With each day passing I suspect that Simpson thinks Bama is too far from home.
I would bet that J. Davis' comments will stir things up here fast.
My prediction: Ford and Upchurch commit

TE>Peek, Trott
I personally like Peek over Trott, great blocker plus 2-3 receptions per game threat.
My prediction: Peek commits IF his visit went well, Trott regrets by next year

Defense (3 slots)

DB>Rogers,Dervil
Rogers decides Tuesday
My prediction: I bet Rogers goes to Maryland with what we have coming in.
Personally, I think we're set here relative to other needs.

DL>Deaderick,Worthington, Greenwood, Forbes, Coleman
I hope we can get three from this bunch.
My prediction: I have no idea. Who wouldn't take Worthington, but he'll probably wait till the end. I like Deaderick and Forbes in this bunch, and of course Worthington.

Recruiting Weekend III: Roy Upchurch

His visit went well. Bama is still slight leader. He plans on taking his visit to Arkansas on the 21st, so his list is probably Bama, FSU, Ark. He said if he commited before taking his visit to Ark, it would be to Bama.
