I see most of those guys starting and a lot of the "other star" guys contributing as well. The D-Line guys are going to see the field if they get in for this upcoming year.FWIW I dont think Love should have been a 5 star last year, he is a bit undersized for a 5 star OT...
However, I don't believe any of our 5 stars will be red shirted this year! Trent will deffidently play this year, D.J, provided he works hard enough, will grab the starting spot, Dre will come in on package defense plays, and start next season, and Nico will also come in on Package defenses or give Rolando a break.
I think this may be jumping the gun a little. He has only played O Line for 1 year. There is a big difference between highschool D-linemen and SEC D-linemen.D.J, provided he works hard enough, will grab the starting spot
These 320-350 lb OTs that are at the this year aren't exactly the norm. When you look at last year's 5* OL, he was one of the biggest and there were a lot of them (8 on Rivals, 6 on Scout), and he's bigger than Scouts number 1 OT this year and right on track with the other 2.FWIW I dont think Love should have been a 5 star last year, he is a bit undersized for a 5 star OT...

Several 5's and 10's from various services ......Not that I think it will happen this year, but can anyone think of the last time that Alabama red-shirted a 5-star recruit for anything other than medical reasons? (i.e. Love last year)
I thought Shaun played as a true freshman in 1996.Several 5's and 10's from various services ......
Shaun Alexander , Brodie Croyle , Marvin Humphries , Kenric Lott(who never played) , Freddie Roach , Kyle Tatum , Jeremy Pennington , Curtis Alexander , Alonzo Ephraim , Matt Lomax , Chris Jordan , Fernando Davis , Sage Spree , Tyler Watts , Marico Portis , Josh Swords , Jason McDonald , Sam Matthews(injured) , Gene Newberry , etc. , etc. .
Almost forgot .... Charlie Dare![]()
I got a little frustrated trying to read this; how about using names instead of just initals?Players play. If Dre has intensity and the mental aspect of the game he will play opposite KJ in the nickel package when JA slides over. Who is going to stop him? Who will stop DJ? Do you pull MJ off LG to left tackle only to replace him with DR? DJ has a great chance as well. DH could slide to rush end allowing NJ to spell him if he comes ready to play. The possibilities are endless. I do believe, however, that this will be the last year that we can honestly expect freshmen to walk in and contribute at a level greater than an upperclassman, and that thought excites me.
Trent Richardson will play, if not start, from day 1 in my opinion.

Signed in 1995 and RS'd because he had never learned any pass blocking .I thought Shaun played as a true freshman in 1996.
I may be wrong, but I would be absolutely shocked if James Carpenter doesn't start at LT this year. As good as DJ will likely be, I think JC is way ahead of him at this point.Who will stop DJ?
My memory works just fine. I seem to remember us wining 12 games last year while we had "depth issues." Seriously how long are we going to have the "depth issues" excuse around? We played a ton of young players last year to get game experience and build depth. A lot of last years class didn't play even though we had "depth issues". If we didn't play guys last year, I'm sure we'll end up not playing guys this year.I guess memories around here are short. With our depth issues, I dont see it happening under any circumstances...
A few more initials please. You actually spelled out Trent Richardson.Players play.
