Rodriguez's post game response to question about other coaching opportunities.

"I'm the coach of West Virginia. I'm excited to be here. I'm proud.. happy for my seniors right now."

What are the reasons to keep you at an institution like this?

"Well, we've got great fans. Uhh, we've got a great coaching staff here. Great environment. More than anything, we've got a bunch of young men who will hold the rope for West Virginia Football."
NO WAY!!! HE said THAT?????? I heard everything up to "great environment". He's coming if offered. "The seniors will hold the rope because I won't be here". Amazing.

As a long-time follower of WVU, I hope that Rich Rod will stay with us. He's a great coach, a reminder of the good things that can come out of the state, and a fantastic recruiter.

However, if he has to go, there's no finer school he could go to than Alabama. They have a tradition I wish our school has, is in the best conference in the nation and has one of the best facilities for him to go with.

Just wanted to pop in and say from a long time follower, that if you got him, it would be a nice fit for your school.

We'd love to have him. He's a class act, from a class school, in a class state. Congrats on the win tonight and welcome !

I almost fell out of my chair when he said his guys would "hold the rope" at the end of the game...his denials on the radio Friday already had the ring of being Fran-like and this just takes the cake.

Prepare to have our collective behinds ridiculed over the similarities if he is indeed hired.

Very classy post. Thanks! As a long time fan do you think that he is leaving?

BTW:
do you really think he didn't hear her when she asked him that, or do you think he trying to think of something to say? he didn't seem to have trouble hearing her other questions.

Is "hold the rope" a popular term? If not, I would really really want to know why on earth he said that. I have only heard it once before from Fatchonie.

I'm crying already :rolleye2: . Truth is, as it was with fran, college football is a business. Now, if he left town and didn't talk to his players, that would be another story. For the most part, every statement I've heard from him has nothing but positives to the West Virginia people. I haven't heard him say "Rest assured, I WILL BE at WV next year." If he said that, that would be another story.

BTW, ESPN should be the one crucified for asking that kind of a question on the field after the game. Save it for the press conference. That's just awkward, and their is nothing he can say that will put him in a positive light.

that is why it is just TOO much of a coincidence, the question is about ALABAMA and you use "hold the rope", you have a better chance winning the lottery...

I know you guys are joking about it being a signal to Mal Moore, but Rod uses the "hold the rope" analogy a lot ... he defines it as being there for your teammates.

He also likes "climb out of the well" ... referring to overcoming adversity.

If he comes to Bama he'll can keep the "well" reference, but he'll have to drop the "rope" stuff.
