I think if you don't call that, it sets a precedent on hitting the QB on a slide. Could be a bad call, but it sets a tone.

this field is garbage...also the national title site's field was chopped to crap and back today in the Outback Bowl.

My big problem with it is...The QB is a running back in that situation and the tacklers are already committed to the tackle at the point he goes down. They did as much as they could to avoid the big hit, so it's a no win situation for any defender.
