Already, some folks are getting the ire up within the ranks of TideFans because they think they are just now coming aboard. Maybe there is more to talk about now. Please let me enlighten a few dedicated Tide Roundball fans. Several years ago, before the people within it, absolutely destroyed Major League Baseball, I was the biggest fan in Alabama. Read all I could about the game, listen on the radio, go to B'ham to see the Old Barons. Piersall, Dropo, Country Brown, etc.
After following baseball year round, it would gripe the fire out of me for people to discuss the world series, knowing they didn't give a crap about the regular season. To get interested at this late date. How stupid of me. I guess I thought me and the few other dedicated baseball people could support the system. I hate to enlighten a few good people but this is the exact lay of the land. A couple of years ago I was there in The Coliseum with a friend in the Athletic Department watching "The Night of Champions". I told him I had read where the Coach (Mike) wanted a better place to play ball. I ask him why the good folks didn't do some remodeling. His words were "We will after he begins to fill up what we have now". I guess what I'm saying is, if you don't have the funds to underwrite the project, you had best recruit a fan base larger than what's there now. Don't run off a cash customer who also enjoys championship competition. I may be wrong, but that's my $.02. RTR
