Let's not forget that Terry Jones Sr. holds a Masters rating in S&C and he's already familiar with every facet of our current program.
I don't see that happening.

Would that be due to the lack of conditioning in 2000? I'd have to lay the blame for that on Dubose for seemingly not holding the players responsible for much of anything. TJ Sr. had some level of control over TJ Jr. and he seemed to be in good shape.

currently working under Al Miller at ATL. FWIW, Miller was on our staff back under The Coach. DuBose offered Miller the job back in his tenure but Miller turned down the offer.
The primary reason Al turned DuBose down was that he needed more years in the NFL toward his pension plan. Al has now exceeded to years required to be fully vested in the NFL retirement program. Just a little something to get you thinking. :)

TommyMac, Bama could easily match the NFL salaries for a S&C coach. The same retirement hitch that kept Al in Atlanta could be the problem with luring one away, though.

You don't recognize the names? <g>

I've heard good things about both....but, like I said they are just names being bantered around. I honestly don't know where Shula will go in this situation. I asked Coach Moore about it Friday night before the USC game and didn't get much of a response...not that I expected one.
Nope, I didn't....that's why I asked. I am woefully ignorant on these matters. That's one reason I frequent this board--to become educated about this sort of stuff.

Thanks for the response! ;)

How old are you? Not that it matters...I'm in my mid 30's and just happen to eat this stuff...but Goode is a name that 99% of Bama fans recognize in a heart beat. Goode came from Town Creek and was at Bama from 89-91 (lettered those years)...played CB.

Al Miller was here in the early 80's....82 till 84? Served as our S&C coach back then. Rocky was here during the same period playing a DB.

TP, are you talking Chris Goode or Kerry Goode? Kerry was the RB. I was just a little one then, but I recall Thunder and Lightning along with the BC game.

I believe Kerry Goode played from 83-84. He would have been the greatest RB in the history of Alabama football had he not injured his knee in the first game of 84. I believe that injury also cost us 3-4 games that year.

The Goode brothers

Pierre played WR and was the the youngest Goode and 1988 was his last year at Bama. He gave up a medical redshirt to play in the last game or two that year. Kerry played RB and finished in 1987 I beleive. Chris is the oldest one that played at Bama.

Back to Pollard--I always liked him as our strength and conditioning coach. One of the best strength and condition coaches in the country (has been nominee previously for the national strength and conditioning association's college strength and conditioning professional of the year award). Nobody pushed us around during the 2002 enroute to a 10-3 season under his conditioning regime. He did a great job and also stood by our players and held the rope as Fran and the rest of his coaching staff departed for Aggieland. I think he would be a great choice, but I don't see him coming back. I know the big argument against him is people say that he favored a program more geared to bulk and strength, but he did say after Fran left that he favored a program more geared to football movements. Although I really like Pollard and I am sure that he could formulate a program that Coach Shula would be happy with I just don't think it is in the cards ,though, and I don't see it happening..RTR

I, too, admire the loyalty shown by Pollard. I agree that him coming back is probably unrealistic, and he probably wouldn't want to anyway. But I do appreciate the fact that he stuck around after fRan skipped town.
