does anyone have a statistic on who the penalties were against

it would be nice to get a breakdown with essential penalties (beat and had to interfere) vs discipline

Yeah I’m going to say if after two years of saying the same thing to the same group of players and the same group of coaching staff for two straight years this will fall on deaf ears. At some point you yourself have to make the necessary changes if others won’t.

I think this may be his most talented team but if there are still discipline issues after two years then you have serious issues within that aren’t going to be fixed by a “we are not going to tolerate this” speech after a loss.

Hope I am wrong but at this point other than “saban is the best coach” arguments what do you really see that is different about 2021 and 2022 discipline wise that realistically gives you optimism that change will happen.

and to think Auburn under KEvin Steele thrived on interfering without getting penalized .. it just blows my mind

Can't read twitter at work, what does it say?
Nick Saban sends a strong message to his players after a 52-49 loss to Tennessee: “We can’t continue to tolerate guys that aren’t doing the things they need to do to be successful. Nobody is entitled to a position.” Which players do you think Nick could be talking about here?

Problem is it's not like one player is the issue:
1- Block in the back: kickoff return
2- Holding: Steen
3- PI: Arnold
4- Holding: kickoff return
5- Holding: McClellan
6- False start: Gibbs
7- Delay of game
8- PI: Branch
9- Offside: Latham (Jah-Marien)
10- False Start: Latham (JC)
11- Holding: Brockermeyer
12- Delay of game
13- False start: Latu
14- PI: Branch
15- PI: Moore
16- False start: HOlden
17- (haven't found this one)

Maybe the message is about holding players accountable now...vs just telling them to be more disciplined..the realization that your lack of concentration and execution will cost you your spot could at least make them focus more..because it seems that wasnt the case this season....

Coach Bryant never had "starters."

Different time and era (without restrictions), I know.

But he didn't even after restrictions on scholarships, either.

There was one time - and it was before my time - that he sent all or nearly all "second string" guys out for the first series or two to make a point to the "starters" that "nobody is entitled to anything." He threw more than one guy off the team and out of the dorm.

I don't care if someone calls that old school; there's a reason he won six national championships, too.

The other message that he sent was.....concerning to say the least.

No chanting in the tunnel in pre-game. Said they were tight. Will Anderson echoed it. Human nature to be a little anxious. Most of these guys played in the national championship game last season. So I guess I just took that thing for granted.

But gone are the days of Damion Square imploring his teammates to choke out his opponent.

They have two way more hostile environments to play in over the next 3 weeks (in Baton Rouge in what will likely be a night game and in Oxford). Perhaps this was his way of publicly challenging their manhood. I don't know. We'll see.

This is exactly my problem. I'm tired of trying to make excuses for it. They were young last year. With the leadership and maturity on this team, these same issues should not be a problem. It is really disappointing.

Dabo catches a lot of heat for not taking transfers, but this may be the result. When you have a certain process and players should be "groomed" in a certain culture and your best players come in from "outside" and have not been a part of that it can be difficult. I am not saying this is THE problem, if anyone can handle it CNS can, but it could be a possible issue. I am not the biggest Dabo fan out there, but there may be something to it.
