I've had a couple of days to digest this loss on Saturday now. SO many people might be on social media during the game, ranting and raving about whatever, or have knee jerk impulses to say something right after a game, and regret it later. Or, just get themselves banned from here or wherever they post their musings.

I'm different. I think about what went wrong, and why. I've aired some of those thoughts here the past couple of days. A new thought occurs to me today, and I'd like to share it.

Alabama lost by a last second field goal, to a dangerous and improved UT squad. We got punched in the mouth in the 1st quarter, giving up 21 right away. We trailed by as much as 18 in the first half. We had our own discipline issues piling on top of us, officials who clearly were ready to throw the flag at the snap on us, and clearly were more "conservative" with their calls against the other team. We were on the road, incredibly hostile and dentally impaired fan base. :D

And, yet, we led by a TD with only minutes to go, and had an opportunity to add to it, aside from an errant penalty that is questionable in it's own right. They tied us up. Then, our own mistakes and lack of discipline and execution once again created a failure in a missed goal.

From all of that, we still dam nearly won that game. Should have won that game. And we'd be 7-0. Instead, we are 6-1, and in range to accomplish all the goals that we set out for. I can't say that I believe we can improve, at this point. But what I can say is, I expect to see us come after Mississippi State this weekend with an anger and drive that just wallops them. No one might take notice, but Ole Miss will be noticing. And, if by chance, we do not manage to win against MSU this weekend, then we can confirm what we may have suspicions of: that this Alabama team just doesn't quite buy in to the process. It happens. It's rare, but it happens.

When you combine Saban's comments toward the team about entitlement at positions, I can't help but shift my eyes to WR and other positions. Will Harrell finally play this weekend? WIll there be some changes at some positions?
I think the guy has seen enough. There will be some new personnel on the field this weekend. Everyone is on notice. No one is irreplaceable.

Didn't Anderson say something recently about how he finds it insulting that other teams dare to take the field against Alabama, or something to that effect?
I'm 99% certain WA has allowed the rat poison into his head. Several "wait and see" comments and we're all still waiting to see...

I get that he's double and triple teamed, but between all the nicknames, the preseason Heisman hype, etc., it takes a really special person to not let those things impact how you prepare. The great ones figure out how to channel it - WA has the potential to be a truly great one, but he's not there yet, imo.

I've not mentioned it but I recall seeing Holden roll his eyes as if he was exasperated when a play call came in during the A&M game. My first thought was "run play", and of course, it was.

I don't know if this was a one-time thing or if this sort of behavior is common, but if you're helping the defense by not selling the route, not blocking, or even showing frustration with the play calls in a way that tips your hand, that's a liability...

So you're saying we have to holden him accountable.

Thank you, I'll be here.....forever.

Right, how in the world do the NFL players even play with all that money in their pockets. 😁
I can see the possibility, because at that age everything is a distraction from what amounts to a full time job plus a full time schooling. Some of these guys went from wondering how to buy something to wondering how many of something to buy. There's also time commitments to these NIL deals I imagine. Some guys may not handle that added stressor as well as others do.

I'm just speculating. The same problems were here last year: lack of focus penalties, fundamentals missing, and a complete lack of physicality.

Kiffin was on the field because he had Blake Sims and Jalen Hurts starting at QB for the first time and he needed to talk over things with them.

BoB doesn't need to explain things to Bryce. Bryce knows what he's doing.
And Sark was on the field with Mac Jones and Tua.

But anyway, the main reason I want BoB on the field is to get his rear end chewed out by Coach Saban, in person.

Yeah. Alex spends more time with the QBs I think. I don't even know if he has an official title but he's the one they talk to on the sideline.
Which Alex? Alabama has a few on staff.

BoB is the official QB coach.

I find that almost everyone who has recently cast some of the blame for this on NiL were the cast who hate NIL, and never wanted it implemented.

I don't know if they are related, but I have to see some real evidence. IMO the same things lead to wins and losses that have always led to wins and losses. NiL may create distractions, but the kids are either mature enough to overcome these distractions or they are not. If they are not, it would have been something else.
