You tell'm Coach Saban!
He noted that Alabama defeated Virginia Tech in its 2009 opener and defeated "six other teams that were the caliber of Virginia Tech, or maybe better. And maybe more than that if you throw in Texas and Florida in the SEC Championship Game. ..."
"It's the full body of work. It's not just that you can beat one team, but if you have to beat six or seven other teams and have to play with consistency to do it, I think that goes a long way in saying a lot about what kind of football team that you have. And that's no disrespect that you have, because they may certainly be able to do the same thing if they were put in that circumstance."

I don't see this as much of a jab. Boise is not in a league where they get the opportunity to play 6 -7 teams like VT. With that said this is the best chance they will ever have to play in a BCSNCG. I don't think they would last every week in any BCS conference.

While I agree with him, I wish he would have left it alone. It's been proven to me over and over that the media will take Saban out of context because they hate him so much. Heck, this dufus writer in that link did it.

They did it on the agent thing and our own fans have done it on his comment about booing Penn State.

I know this article was taken out of context, but it seems to be too many people are worried about Boise St and everything else right now, instead of being focused on beating Penn St. I hope the team isn't as distracted as our fan base seems to be.

I see this as a jab at Saban if anything. And if you don't want to get mad don't read the comments left.

I think this is once again part of "The Process". Coach knows it is very difficult to go undefeated (esp. 3 years in a row) during the regular season. He is already making a case for a potential one loss team from a major conference playing in the BCSNCG over an undefeated team.

CNS believes in results, the clatter doesn't matter.

I think the BEST PROOF of Boise's lack of ability to compete with the big dogs is what has happened to their coaches when they went to other jobs that actually required them to play more than one decent team per year.

Houston Nutt
Dirk Koetter
Dan Hawkins

None of them has even come close to an unbeaten season when he had to play decent teams. Koetter handed off a ten-win team to Hawkins, who then had three double-digit win teams in five years. Then came Petersen, who has had double digit wins every year.

According to Sorenson, consider their SOS the last ten years:

2001 - 91st
2002 - 112th
2003 - 95th
2004 - 73rd
2005 - 93rd
2006 - 88th
2007 - 112th
2008 - 93rd
2009 - 93rd

Now let's look at just a few of those games for a comparison and we'll see that the Boise haters are dead on right.

2001 - they play South Carolina ON THE ROAD and get creamed, 32-13. This same SCe team edges a 7-5 Alabama team by one point and then beats Ohio State in the Outback Bowl.

2002 - they lost to Arkansas ON THE ROAD by a score of 41-14. This same Arkansas team lost to a probation riddled Alabama team by a EIGHTEEN POINTS.

2003 - again they play one DECENT team ON THE ROAD, Oregon State - and they LOSE, 26-24.

2004 - they again get all their tough teams (both of them) at HOME and go undefeated. Then they go ON THE ROAD and lose the bowl game to Louisville by four points.

2005 - they finally decide to play two decent foes back-to-back and one the road.....and they LOSE both of them, 45-14 to Georgia and by 3 to Oregon State. They play two other decent teams - Fresno State and BC on the road - and lose BOTH of them.

(Anyone who cannot see a pattern now is blind. They DO NOT play tough road games except in the opener - and they lose every time they do).

2006 - they kill Oregon State....at HOME. They play Wyoming on the road (6-6) and only win by a TD. Of course, they beat Oklahoma with a month to prepare..

2007 - they lose ON THE ROAD to a TERRIBLE (4-9) Washington team, and lose ON THE ROAD to a 12-1 Hawaii team. Oh and who beat Hawaii you remember? Georgia smoked them, 41-10.

(And folks wonder why SEC fans are NOT impressed with these clowns)

2008 - sure enough they lose another road game to TCU by one point.

Has anybody noticed a pattern? OK, so they went to Mississippi and beat a mediocre Southern Miss team....the same Southern Miss team that gave up 27 points to Auburn's pathetic 2008 offense and got killed by the Tigers. So sure Boise beat USM that year. So did Auburn, Marshall, UTEP, Rice, and Memphis before they recovered but not enough to save Jeff Bower.
