If A&M cuts off its nose to spite its face that would be the most A&M thing ever, as there's literally no option that will come close to giving A&M what the SEC has.

Would be hilarious but I cannot see it happening.
No, me either. Too much money.

All this talk about them being the only dissenting school. What you bet they get their act together and vote "yes" when all is said and done. I mean their one vote isn't going to stop it and they just will look like a 1st grader with a booger in their nose in the class picture. Talk about giving UT bulletin board material right out of the gate!

They did Alabama a favor.
True in retrospect. But I had the misfortune of living in San Antonio among some Aggies then and the arrogance was next-level absurd. They actually thought part of it was - I'm serious - the Aggies were big time and Alabama was minor league. I realize Coach Bryant was at ATM, but they don't seem to want to accept that he never would have won six national titles at College Station, either.

I still do not see the benefit to the current SEC schools for this proposed expansion. There could be some additional money... but the SEC schools have and will have plenty of money.

A 16 team conference of these schools will be VERY hard to win.... in every sport.
Yet someone is still going to win it each year.

Even with adding Texas and Oklahoma, the list of contenders for the title changes by one - and that's Oklahoma. Texas is not a contender on day 1. Maybe they will be in time. I don't know. A lot depends on when they actually join. I'm betting 2022, barring a last minute implosion of all this, which is entirely possible.

So, I love Sark as a playcaller but I'm not betting on him getting Texas to championship level by year 2 of his tenure.

Us having to compete directly with UGA and Florida isn't great, I'll grant you that. But I've said earlier that the new West Division will instantly become the weaker division with this realignment. LSU and OU are probably going to clean up initially.

Were Nebraska and Arkansas better by jumping to a bug boy conference?
Honestly, if you can't see the "potential" UT has over Neb. or Ark. I can't say anything else. UT is just the right coach (who they may have right now) away from finally landing all those 5 star recruits around them and finally realizing their real potential.

Just don't see AU being that much ahead of UF or especially being ahead of LSU at all. Something is not right. How did they arrive at these figures? Did they reveal that?

But to the main point - this is one of the primary attractions of UTx. It's not their money, it's their brand and the eyeballs that they attract. (TV is wising up and is changing where it's eyeballs watching the games, not what footprint in which you reside. Thus streaming subscriptions are becoming more important than cable boxes which may not even be turned on or are looking at something else.) It doesn't matter if they are deserved or not, UTx draws them.

Feel like they have been waiting on the right coach for 50 years.

One thing I keep hearing over and over again is that Texas is going to be back because aTm can’t hold that patch against them anymore… Well that patch hasn’t costed them top 10 recruiting classes or for Oklahoma to constantly get the best quarterback recruit in the nation… I heard back in 2011 how the LHN was so great that people could watch their kids, and have high school football on Friday’s. So remind me how much better Texas is going to be better because a patch that is signifying that they are in a way tougher conference.

And then they got to hold the rope...................and got 77 laid on them

They have been having 5 star recruits and they are in a state full of them. You really think getting their brains beat out by Alabama, LSU, and Florida every year while also still having to play Oklahoma is going to be better?

I'm not buying it either. This is just going to make Oklahoma and LSU stronger. Texas has always squandered every advantage they've had, except with Vince Young. Their recruiting may tick back up with the SEC brand, but OU's will as well (they may as well be considered a Texas instate school) and OU historically knows what to do with its talent.

I do, however, have some trepidation for what it means for Alabama recruiting in the state of Texas, as we've grown fond of nabbing 3-5 great players from there lately. I feel like we do make most of our hay in Georgia/Florida, so we aren't necessarily going anywhere. And with Nick Saban, we're going to be a top 3 choice for any recruit we go after.

Unless / until Bama stops winning that pipeline will stay open.

To prove my point further… Anyone really want to take a gander how many Big XII titles Texas has? I know @selmaborntidefan knows but I really want everyone that thinks Texas is going drastically improve in a much tougher conference knows. Because it’s really telling when you see that number from 1996 at the end of the Osborne “dynasty” to the present day at how great Texas has been with Vince Young and Colt McCoy and all of these Texas recruits when they were at times better than the SEC.

I mean when you compare it to us from 1982 to 2007 it really shows what Texas is at its best and what Alabama is at its worst.

Yeah, but what they "are" right now is kinda where Bama was before and after Coach Stallings 92 championship. They had not won a NC for a long time and then they have that one great year with Vince Young. Had a few good teams after that (09).

IDK...we'll see. TAMU is finally starting to figure it out. They got the right coach and they've figured out what it takes to compete in this league. Will Texas learn? Who knows?
