I am not a big fan of expanding the SEC schedule to nine games, especially if playing a very strong schedule is going to be held against a team and playing a schedule full of cupcakes is going to be rewarded by the playoff selection committee.

It's gonna be 16 within the next couple of years. The only way to survive is to expand the Conference and divide it into 4 divisions to reduce the brutal schedule.

Why not 128? Shoot, why not 256? After all, Slippery Rock’s players deserve a playoff spot too, don’t they?

It’d be virtually all teams and would extend the season only two or three more weeks. You could reduce the regular season by eliminating conference championship games and games against cupcakes.

Oh….wait a minute….if it’s a playoff game, does tOSU vs. Eastern North Dakota State still count as a cupcake game?

Can’t decide if that should be blue font or not. The whole idea is ridiculous, but it seems we're headed this way.

They're going to ruin it if they have all these automatic bids for conferences. I get it, they want to avoid what happened this year, but the SEC and B1G would only be capping themselves this way The ACC and Big 12 will rarely deserve more than one team. Conversely, there will be many years where the SEC or B1G deserve 6. The best way to do it would be to have all 14 spots being at large bids. The automatic bids are the reason there's a mess in the first place, and now they want more?

Just use power ratings instead of letting pretenders like Boise and SMU in the mix.

This is so dumb. 12 is too many but 16 is ridiculous. I thought the whole reason we went to 12 was to have autos and byes to make the conf championships worth playing. (You know besides making more inclusive etc) Now you went so far that way you’ve got the same problem again. I don’t want to watch the 16th team do a single solitary thing in January. At this point the only thing they can do to make non rivalry reg season games mean anything is to kill off 90% of the non playoff bowl games.

That was the point all along to kill off the bowls and consolidate that revenue to the playoffs. Just go back and look at the attendance at the Gator Bowl this year which has historically averaged 50K-60k fans. The attendance was only about 12k this year.
