Congratulations Bama for getting a BCS bowl game..........

I know the the seniors have to be real disappointed not to win the SEC, but thank you for the great season you gave us, and this team has nothing to be ashamed of at all............:)

I don't know, Rich. I see us and UGA winning. I think the Cotton Bowl matchup will be a potentially great game.
This is the way I see it today.

Florida vs OU - flip a coin

Bama vs Utah - Bama might beat the spread

BC vs Vandy - BC by a lot

GT vs LSU - GT

Iowa vs So Carolina - Iowa playing good ball at end of season, USC not. Iowa will win

Mich St vs Georgia - neither team impresses that much so flip a coin but I'm picking MSU

E Carolina vs UK - E Carolina wins UK beat no one of value

Texas Tech vs Ol' Miss - Remember the beatings Nutt took from So. Cal. back in '05&06? That's what I expect Texas Tech to do to Ol' Miss.

I don't know about Utah but if they are UF w/o Tebow or the UF D, the BAMA offense will be like a roadgrader on a S AL country road. The UT's haven't seen a defense with Cody, Hightower, McClain. The D will do nothing but Rock and Roll Tide that bunch of Redskins from out west.

If UF has no Tebow, BAMA wins by 2 TD's easy.

It will be a fun night in old New Orleans.

Put some style points up for the polls and we end up #2 and 13-1, what a year!

Re: Sugar Bowl: Bama vs UtahAlabama Earns BCS Berth;

Alabama Earns BCS Berth; Will Play Utah in Allstate Sugar Bowl on January
The University of Alabama football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 2009 Allstate Sugar Bowl, it was announced Sunday. Alabama will be playing in its NCAA-leading 56th bowl game and second BCS bowl.

Alabama (12-1 overall, 8-0 in the Southeastern Conference) will meet the Utah Utes (12-0 overall, 8-0 Mountain West Conference) in the 2009 Sugar Bowl on Friday, January 2, 2009, with kickoff time schedule for 7 p.m. Central Time at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, La. The game will be nationally televised by FOX Sports and will mark UA’s 10th national television appearance this year.

If we go into that game with a good mindset and a good gameplan I'm pretty sure we'll win by a generous amount. We've yet to see how this team will play after a loss this season, so this will be something new to all of us.

One thing's for sure though, if we play Utah the same way we did Florida we'll win. Utah is no where near any Florida, they don't have the speed that Florida has, and they don't have a Tim Tebow.

I agree with others though, we simply cannot just overlook them like they are some second tier team and act like we're going to completely annihilate them.

This is a good matchup. We SHOULD win by a lot, but this Utah team is probably as good as any of the mid majors to ever make a BCS game (probably even better than that 06 BS team). Their conference is much improved, and they played a schedule that can compare with some in the Big 10/Pac10 as BYU/TCU/Oregon St/Air Force are pretty good teams. And I'd say they are a legit top 15 team.

Its not exactly a dream matchup, but it is a matchup we can lose if the team doesn't take them seriously (but of course they will). I'd say its about the same as if we didn't take Ole Miss/LSU or Boston College or Ga Tech seriously. I expect to win by a couple of scores, but I don't expect it to be a laugher.

I'm looking forward to being in a BCS game again, and finally winning one.

Going by their schedule, they barely beat a horrible Michigan team by two points and barely beat New Mexico by 3 points. Their best victory seems to be over TCU by 3. I in now way advocate taking them lightly as I know CNS will have the team ready, but if we play our game, we win this game easily.

I'm very glad that Bama's playing in one of the major bowls this year and we came within a gnat's ... of playing for all the marbles. However and for whatever reason, I'm having a hard time getting up for playing Utah. "Bama vs Utah": It just doesn't have that big bowl ring to it. Not saying that Utah is not a good team and that it doesn't belong. I guess it's just when you get that close to playing for another national title, everything else pales in significance.

Their schedule was average, but their defensive stats look pretty impressive. They are 12th in scoring defense, 18th in total defense, and 14th in rushing defense. They also take care of the ball and force turnovers (a sign of a tough defense). They are 16th in turnover margin.

If they have a weakness, it is discipline. They draw a lot of penalties.

On paper, this team is pretty good...
