Crime Blotter: Suspect in deaths of Idaho students arrested in Pennsylvania (Update: Accepted a Plea Bargain)

I'll look later, but I made that remark when the evidence about his attempts to contact them hadn't come out. I still might have been right, though...
I watched a Dateline NBC episode on this and it was fascinating (not in a good, "happy" way). I have a daughter going off to college in the fall and stuff like this terrifies me. My wife and I like watching the Dateline NBC episodes and one thing we have noticed when it involves college kids and campuses is how oblivious a lot of these kids are to obviously dangerous situations.
We recently watched one (and too many like this one) where a serial rapist was basically going to spring break areas and college towns and sexually assaulting college girls. In the interviews with the victims, one of the common things that simply made my wife and I cringe was how many times the victims had these similarities in their stories:
1. Just met the guy
2. Didn't know his name
3. Went back to his apartment (just the two) or got in his car for a ride, again just those two (with #1 & #2 being applicable)
The answer is I'm probably out of touch, but my god who does this? We immediately brought our daughter into the room and reinforced what we've ALWAYS taught her about the above things.

Grand jury indicts Bryan Kohberger
Prosecutors planned to take the case against Bryan Kohberger before a grand jury instead of going through with an initially scheduled preliminary hearing.

(NewsNation) — NewsNation has learned a plea deal has been offered to Bryan Kohberger, the man charged with killing four University of Idaho students in November 2022, and he has accepted.
Sources confirm the prosecution has proposed dropping the death penalty in exchange for Kohberger pleading guilty to committing the murders and to a burglary charge.
NewsNation has learned Kohberger must also agree to spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole and must waive his right to appeal.
A court hearing for a change of plea will be Wednesday.

Does not mean necessarily mean he did it.
A plea bargain is offered to something lesser and the accused accepts to avoid the more serious penalty (although it seems likely to me he did it).
A guy I worked with (in his late 30s) struck up a relationship with a 16 year old girl (he later said she had said she was 21). He was charged with 52-odd counts of indecent relations with a minor. Offered a plea bargain that meant 10 years in prison, he declined. He went to trial, was convicted, and sentenced to 52 years. Ouch. Should have accepted the plea deal.
Just me, but if faced with the choice, I think I’d take the needle (or gas, or firing squad, or whatever) as opposed to spending decades in state prison.

Bundy would have been one hell of a good lawyer. He was frighteningly bright and had an undeniable charm that would have served him well in a courtroom. Too bad he was a sick, evil freak.
My wife and I watched a documentary on this, and this dude was definitely sick in the head. But again, I go back to "kids these days" and how different they act from when I grew up. Even the wildest girls I went to high school and college with would NEVER do what a lot of these girls do who get themselves in these dangerous situations.
My daughter has friends who do this ^^^^! WHY?!?!?! WHYYYYYYYY?!?!?! We've taught my daughter NEVER, EVER, EVER uner ANY circumstance do what a lot of girls these days apparently do. I guess I'm just out of touch.
He actually trained himself into being a pretty good one. Of course, that last spree down in FL, when he invaded a sorority house made it certain he would be caught and I think that's what he really wanted. He told the arresting officers that he wished they had just killed him. But what I was remembering was his trial down there when he started pointing his finger at the judge. The judge, an older guy, said "Young man, do not point your finger at me!" He did it again and the judge repeated it louder. Bundy finally realized he was likely to finish the trial in shackles and desisted...
Yep. We taught our daughter, "Never drink with someone you don't trust with your life."
Can't recall the product name, but I remember on "Shark Tank" a product was invented that covered your cocktail glass while you were in public. To keep someone from dropping something in to it.
Not to derail this thread but does anyone here know a decent amount about criminal law/murder cases?
