UNA has a very good following for a division 2 program, especially considering when most of there games are played during Alabama or the barn games. I am torn with this hire. Being a college student and living in Muscle Shoals I pull for UNA, but it is weird knowing I am pulling for a former Barn coach. Oh well I like my local team more then I hate my rival I guess. Roll Tide and Roar Lions.Being that it's UNA football, does anyone really care? Most of the people at their games are there to see the band.
Bobby Wallace coached under Dye at Awbarn and took UNA to an NCAA record 3 straight national titels. He was the coach who recruited Bo Jackson to the barn. Just saying.UNA has a very good following for a division 2 program, especially considering when most of there games are played during Alabama or the barn games. I am torn with this hire. I'm from Florence, grew up going to UNA football & basketball games (UNA has won 2 NCAA basketball titles and 3 NCs in a row in football - another NCAA record), and have many family and friends who graduated from there and have never witnessed this "snooty attitude" of which you speak. Nor have I ever heard the school cheering in unison against Alabama. It sounds like you have a personal axe to grind against UNA or maybe you cannot handle the fact that UNA was founded in 1830 (1 year before the Capstone) - whatever it is, you are spewing untruths about a very fine univeristy and making no sense at all. An enemy? Whatever dude.I guess those who don't have dealings on an academic level or aren't geographically near the college don't share the same disdain for it that I do. It seems that the culture surrounding UNA has a very "snooty" attitude toward other colleges in the state, Alabama in particular (and I can't understand why--they have nothing to offer that the Capstone hasn't already topped). Any college whose crowd (what little there is) cheers when the Crimson Tide is announced as losing (this includes UAB, too) is, in my view, an enemy of the University of Alabama and, since I graduated from UA, an enemy of mine.
Agreed, he will only be at UNA long enough until he wins 10 games then off to somewhere else. This is only a stop for him, I give it 1 season, then if he is sucessful, he will be at a bigger school. He really wasn't a bad coach, but made some off field bad decisons which cost him his job.
  That's funny.Funny quote from a UNA message board:
I wanted a splash and we got a tidal wave! AP is already running the story with a map showing where UNA is located. We now have the second biggest coach in the state. Sorry Auburn.
