New YorkCNN —
Far-left woke mobs ravaging the country. Hordes of illegal immigrants invading the southern border. Gender ideology warping young minds in schools. Sinister globalists plotting in the shadows.

These are the toxic themes espoused in right-wing media, delivered each day through a mix of internet pipelines and broadcasts to millions of homes across the country. They are also the perturbed views of a 32-year-old man who police say decapitated his father, a federal employee, and then uploaded a highly disturbing video to YouTube showcasing the grisly murder while spewing a toxic potpourri of conspiratorial grievances.

It’s part of a larger trend of right-wing violence afflicting the country. Over the course of the last several years, America has witnessed a spate of such incidents: the Charlottesville car attack, the Charleston church shooting, the Buffalo supermarket shooting, the El Paso Walmart shooting, and, of course, the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, among others.

SMH - This is the headline for an over-the-air software update for a minor change to on-board system the icons.

View attachment 40670
Seems to be an accurate headline. The minor change is a big safety deal, apparently. The method of remedy isn't too important as to it counting as a safety recall. In the future we will see this method of remedy more and more as the industry changes.

Mr. Jacky Lam Tesla, Inc. 45500 Fremont Blvd. Fremont, CA 94538 NEF-107SS 24V-051 Subject: Incorrect Font Size on Warning Lights/FMVSS 105 Dear Mr. Lam: This letter serves to acknowledge Tesla, Inc.'s notification to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of a safety recall which will be conducted pursuant to Federal law for the product(s) listed below. Please review the following information to ensure that it conforms to your records as this information is being made available to the public. If the information does not agree with your records, please contact us immediately to discuss your concerns. Makes/Models/Model Years: TESLA/CYBERTRUCK/2024 TESLA/MODEL 3/2017-2023 TESLA/MODEL S/2012-2023 TESLA/MODEL X/2016-2024 TESLA/MODEL Y/2019-2024 Mfr's Report Date: January 30, 2024 NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V-051 Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL Potential Number of Units Affected: 2,193,869 Problem Description: Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, 2019-2024 Model Y, and 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. An incorrect font size is displayed on the instrument panel for the Brake, Park, and Antilock Brake System (ABS) warning lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems." Consequence: Warning lights with a smaller font size can make critical safety information on the instrument panel difficult to read, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: Tesla began releasing an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 30, 2024. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-003.

.

Initiated safety recalls require a manufacturer's action to announce and remedy the defects.
A recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle, equipment, car seat, or tire creates an unreasonable safety risk or fails to meet minimum safety standards. Most decisions to conduct a recall and remedy a safety defect are made voluntarily by manufacturers prior to any involvement by NHTSA.
Manufacturers are required to fix the problem by repairing it, replacing it, offering a refund, or in rare cases repurchasing the vehicle.
Using our VIN lookup tool, you can access recall information provided by the manufacturer conducting the recall which may be not posted yet on NHTSA’s site.

Of course, but an over-the-air software update is massively different than what people consider a 'recall' where people have to make appointments and take their cars in for service.

The point is, yes, it was an accurate headline, but massively misleading. Every software recall going forward will be the 'biggest in Tesla history' simply because they're selling more cars every day.

The headline was obviously made for attention rather than info - anyone who owns a Tesla already received the software push over-the-air.

What is misleading about it?

I know the "largest - ever recall" gets attention, but even it is accurate.

Its misleading because the cars arent actually being 'recalled' which people usually equate with taking back to the dealer so its no more being recalled than a PC is recalled when it receives an online update.
Why does the federal government call it a recall, then? It meets their definition of a safety recall 100%. What is not understood about that? The ignorance of the common man does not change how the government defines it. Neither does the method of delivering a fix to the safety defect.

Remember the fact that it is Tesla and Elon Musk matters to many now. The guy was a darling of the left until he wasn't, and now tearing him and his companies down in any way possible is full time job for many.

Ironically, someone shaking their head at a factually accurate headline involving Musk is what began that particular discussion.

I will make no judgment about the motivation for that, but there are a number of people who take offense to even legitimate criticism of Musk or his companies.

The federal government defines what a safety recall is, not the media. The media accurately reported it in the headline posted here, but were accused of being misleading anyway. The excuses given were that people associated recalls with making service appointments and they sell more cars every day.

It would have been easy to point out the positives here:

Tesla sells a lot of cars and everyone who owns a Tesla will get an over the air update that will easily fix the safety defect. No one will have to make a service appointment and deal with all that hassle (or presumably the waiting).

And that seems as accurate as the headline posted.

But now we're saying that factual reporting about a voluntary safety recall as defined by the feds is just done to tear down the company instituting the safety recall and its owner, which almost seems - again - like someone getting overly defensive of Musk and overly critical of someone reporting factually on him and his company.

Insiders said Herridge also clashed with CBS News President Ingrid-Ciprian Matthews, a sharp-elbowed executive who was investigated in 2021 over favoritism and discriminatory hiring and management practices, as previously reported by The Post.

CBS News declined to comment.

Author and journalist Michael Shellenberger, an expert on censorship and free speech, called Herridge a “hero” on X, saying she lately has been “facing financial ruin and even prison for protecting her sources.”

The American media got a little better today with the announcement of the end of Rick and Bubba Show.
To me I have never understood the fascination with the “two obnoxious fat guys behind a mic in the morning” crap. I just don’t understand why anyone needs that in the morning.

Rick and bubba are actually the ones that kinda made Finebaum big tbh. Rick always hated the fact that Finebaum could do circles around him in logic but kept bringing him on in the hopes to finally get one over on him that he never could because of the lack of brain cells.

But ultimately until Ron Paul they were no worse or better than the other fat guys in the morning with the likes of Phil and Brent or John boy and Billy. But once Paul ran Rick really ramped up the far right nonsense and started to buy tons of ads on WJOX. I still hate the idea that they celebrated the balloon popper and helped pay for his court costs in the same breath as saying they love free speech.
