Giorgia Meloni has called for a burka and niqab ban in public places in Italy with fines of £2,600 to stop 'Islamic separatism'.

The bill, presented to parliament by the Italian prime minister's Brothers of Italy party on Wednesday, would see those wearing the garment in shops, offices, schools and universities fined between £260 and £2,600.

It will also introduce criminal penalties for 'cultural crimes' including virginity testing and increase punishments for forced marriages to up to 10 years in prison, with religious coercion grounds for prosecution.

The bill will combat 'religious radicalisation and religiously motivated hate', the party claims.

'The spread of Islamic fundamentalism... undeniably constitutes the breeding ground for Islamist terrorism,' an introduction to the draft legislation said.

I don't see it passing, but this would be a huge win for the West. Islamic fundamentalism is not compatible with Western Civilization and everyone knows it.

I think it's no different than what Coach Saban said about a successful football team. You have to get the wrong players off the bus and get the right players on the bus. You can't have people who come into your country already with the mindset of hating your country/government and wanting to fundamentally change it. Those are the people you don't want coming in. They're not here to assimilate, they're here to cause division and ultimately take over. I think that's what has happened to Europe, they thought people were coming in wanting to assimilate to their culture but in reality it was to establish their own culture and force it on them. America is dealing with a level of that right now.

Sadly, there are plenty of potential immigrants who want to assimilate and contribute, yet to discern the desirable from the undesirable is considered racist. I guess it comes from a self-loathing on the part of the Western leftists. As a result, much of Europe is dying by suicide.

Agreed. In your opinion, what is driving all this? Are we suicidal? Is this Darwinism in action? Are we just stupid? It could be any or all of these, but I haven't completely closed myself off from the notion that this stupid crap is intentional and there is a sinister motive behind it.

I have no clue to be honest, because people can be doing the same things but for different reasons. But in my years of living in this country, I've never seen more people migrating to this country, then turning around proclaiming how much they hate it and it's evil. I saw a lot of this curious behavior when I lived in the DC area. Demonstrations all the time by immigrants (probably a lot of them illegal) who were newly arrived but were loudly contemptuous of this country. It was weird. Why are you here then? I know the answer is to soak up generous taxpayer-provided benefits and pop out citizen-babies like a Pez dispenser, but shouldn't you at least be grateful you're allowed to be a well-fed slug?

My wife saw similar behavior when she was a newly-arrived immigrant. While she and the other Vietnamese were in school and/or working so they could chase the American dream, the immigrants in the community from the Middle East refused to work or go to school, realizing that the less they achieved the more welfare they could receive. Since they hated this country, they were only glad to steal from productive people. Same as it ever was.

And then, of course, we have several member of Congress who are immigrants and hate this country. So, the rot is top-to-bottom. SMH.

Much more unacceptable to me than cultural dress is the growing belief that criticism of Islam is off-limits. No religion or belief system should be immune from scrutiny or satire — that principle is central to Western liberal values. Labeling every critic of Islam as a bigot or “Islamophobe” undermines genuine free discourse. Those in the West who promote that kind of intellectual censorship, however well-intentioned, erode the same freedoms they claim to defend.

However, when it comes to free speech, Switzerland has declared war on anyone who challenges certain orthodox positions, including gender policies. Just ask Emanuel Brünisholz.

Brünisholz is reportedly about to start a 10-day prison stint due to his voicing skepticism about claims that skeletons are transgender.

The case is only the latest example of how free speech is in a free fall in Europe. I spoke in Berlin at the World Forum, where European leaders gathered in one of the most strikingly anti-free speech conferences I have attended. This year’s forum embraced the slogan “A New World Order with European Values.” That “new world order” is based on an aggressive anti-free speech platform that has been enforced for years by the European Union.

Many Americans are allied with the EU and attempting to introduce such anti-free speech laws in the United States. Others are speaking in Europe and inviting the EU to hit U.S. companies with sanctions for failing to censor Americans.

This is a symptom for sure. An examination of the underlying cause of this is something that clearly needs to be looked at hard. Right now, it's a huge problem for Europe and this sickness certainly isn't going to spread east because Russia, Ukraine and Poland aren't going to put up with this ****. It can only spread further west and that prospect scares the hell out of me.

It's definitely in the US & Canada as more and more muslims, specifically, take over communities, enact their "religious" beliefs and force those now minorities, out of their communities. Dearborn is a prime example.

I wouldn't say they are low IQ. Some may very well be quite smart but they have little to no education and no marketable skills. It's literally like trying to assimilate millions of children all at once. They bring nothing to the US except for their "potential" to perform jobs that uneducated and unskilled people qualify for.

This reminds me of something that always puzzled Reagan about his own party.

How did a lot of the changes to government and what it does change? Well, except for the Civil War and the huge majorities FDR had, it basically required incrementalism, the ability and willingness to compromise and "take half a loaf of bread now then come back for more later" (Reagan's way of saying it). Reagan would shake his head at hard right extremists like Jesse Helms, who would lay out all the markers and if ANYTHING varied from what he wanted, he'd vote against something - instead of getting part of what he wanted so, of course, nothing would happen.

And this as you say isn't a Republican thing; remember that infrastructure bill a few years ago that blew a big hole (one of many) into the deficit and the Free Feces Caucus (aka the Squad) all voted against it because it didn't do enough?
