We've all got them. Auburn family members. I just want to hug their necks.

Really hard.

Let this be a healthy, honest, and helpful thread for us all.

Got Aubie?

Roll Call: "Here!"

*Raises hand*

A side story.

When I first met my husband , we watched the Iron Bowl over at his parents house. His brother and him are Auburn fans.

Me being my normal self got very excited/loud during the first half, Bama was winning.

At half time, my soon to be brother-n-law went outside for "target practice", because he was so mad at me. Literally, went out and shot off some rounds. Scared me to death.

That should have been a clue to run the other direction. lol!

Needless to say, when I watch football at the in-laws, I am much quieter.

I can't stand watching the game with opposing fans.

It was bad enough I attended a cousin's wedding reception during the LSU game. There were a bunch of Auburn fans there cheering on LSU, and after the game ended they started up with "It's great to be an Auburn Tiger" and I was quietly seeing red.

The AU girlfriend watches at her parents' house.

I got them. My immediate family is all Alabama but aunts, uncles, and cousins are Auburn. Depending on who shows up for Thanksgiving it will be 1 sane Auburn fan and anywhere from 8 to 12 unreasonable Auburn fans. I am hoping to avoid all discussions about sCam Newton when it starts getting dark out. If not, I will just have to go start screaming "Yes we scam!"

This is my first time watching the game with them. My sister & brother-in-law (my hubby's sister) are both veternarians so I don't need to say where they went to school. Thankfully they just went to vet school there and not undergrad. However they have vet friends in the area that we always have gone to eat Christmas dinner with in the past. One time they had a "Honk, if you sacked Brodie" bumper sticker displayed prominently on their car when we drove up at their house, just for me. Not sure what to expect this time for Thanksgiving.

I'm just glad we are watching the game with the in-laws and not their friends. My sister & bro-in-law will be cheering for Auburn but they are reasonable and even cheered for Alabama during the BCSCG. I have promised my hubby to be on my best behavior...

My wife who is a barner has been quiet for two years (coincided with the 36-0 beatdown and a Bama NC) has been raving about the Barn this year. When the Cam story broke...crickets...NOTHING!!! Then, the other day, out of the blue while I'm railing about how bad the situation for the Barn is she let the proverbial cat out of the bag. She said, and I quote, "I don't care what happens as long as we beat Alabama this Friday."

I have held the belief forever that Barners live and die by this thought...beating Bama. It is why their goal isn't championships. It is why they will always be 2nd rate in this state. And it is why I wouldn't care if they were booted from the SEC and the only chance Bama had to play them was as a kindness to help their athletic dept. make budget after years of wandering in the college football wilderness.

mrs. exiled's sister & daughters are Barn fans, even tho none of the 3 went to school there. (Wait...I thought only Bama has "sidewalk alums" or "Walmart fans"...hmmm...) In their case, I'll give it to them; one of the daughters attended HS in a *small* school w/ a guy who played @ the Barn & is now in the NFL. (Aside: playing in Buffalo's *almost* like playing for a pro team, isn't it?:p)

They're not too noisy about it, and are well aware that mrs. e & I are both Bama grads. Plus--significantly--we won't be watching the IB in the same town, which helps a lot.

I even have a "House United" front license plate--all crimson with two A's.
I need one of those! Can you give me a link?

Otherwise - I have a nephew who graduated from Pharmacy school at the barn, but we won't watch the game together. Thanksgiving dinner might be interesting, though. I promise to be quiet - but if he starts it, all bets are off!

I do have a very close friend who is an Auburn fan - we plan to play golf Saturday. My Bama bag and his Auburn bag on the back of the cart usually draws some interesting comments.

I do same some Auburn family members. Luckily, I don't watch the games with them. Most in our family are Bama fans, but we have a few weird people in the bunch :D.

The wife is an Auburn grad and so are the in-laws. My father-in-law was the worst. When Auburn was on their streak, he mouthed off CONSTANTLY. In the last 2 years, he's been eerily quiet. Let's hope he keeps quiet one more year!

As in most split families, we sat at Legion Field, sometime in the AU section and sometimes in Alabama's , to say the least, there was never much conversation at these.

Then in early 80's was in Dallas and had to watch in our hotel room, no one was covering in lobby area, 2 chairs next to each other in a hotel room, all by ourselves, would have been much cheaper to have gotten 2 rooms

But our best story is, after moving to Louisiana, Auburn goes on probation, no TV and over here no radio (before internet listening).
So we buy a speaker for the phone, Have my Mom in Birmingham have her phone next to radio and we listen long distance, We flipped a coin to see which half we would pick to hear our station... All is going well till right at the end of the half, my Mom picks up the phone to ask if all is ok and disconnects the call, she doesnt realize it. We call all the neighbors to go to her house to say hang up the call so we could call back, missed about a half of 3rd quarter. Since we have 2 children , our daughter is die hard Auburn and son is LSU. So just me in Louisiana with a Big Roll Tide..

We dont marry those kind of women in my family
LOL...if I had made that mistake, the house wouldn't be divided...she'd be sleeping in the yard.
Have a brother that went to the barn for less than a year out of HS, didn't graduate. None of his offspring did either, although I think one might have gone there for a semester. They are all, to a person including sons- and daughters-in law, huge barn fans.
Have another brother who almost graduated from UA, but Uncle Sam called and he got a free trip to Vietnam. He loved last years BCSCG (he was there).
Have another brother who has 2 kids on track to graduate from UA. His whole family (except one son-in-law) are huge Bama fans (even his son who went to MSU).
Christmas is usually not a good time, and I try now to visit Mom on Christmas Day when the family barners are still asleep. She is a huge Bama fan, but pulls for the barn in all their other games out of respect for her poor, misguided son.
