I am going to make my prediction (serious) about the barners new HC. After hearing all the names it is my opinion that the best they can do now is Gene Chizik. While I do not think this is in any way a homerun for them he is not a bad coach and he should be aware of the dynamics and politics associated with their football program. He will have to find an offensive staff capable of playing in the SEC which is going to be a tall order.
Chizik just might be the one they select. He may be a good coach, but it did not show at Iowa State. He has only won five games in two years; and still winless in the Big 12 conference. Not exactly a gleaming track record.

If you think it was melting down then you should check it out now. And it will only get worse as this Chizik to AU thing picks up steam. If it actually comes through the governer needs to post national guardsmen to all bridges and tall buildings. :eek2:

Tommy Hicks' column in the Mobile - Register comes close, but doesn't completely describe the poisonous environment the next AU coach steps into. Whoever he turns out to be, he'd better have the right stuff and he'd better have the strength of will to put the meddlers in their places.

I am laying 11 to 5 odds that they don't get that guy, this time.
Yeah, concerning environment, I thought that this fact pointed out in Low's ESPN blog was telling.

A few coaches who've gone through that process are now starting to wonder privately who's making the call.
TCU's Gary Patterson is no longer interested after interviewing on Thursday.
As most of us know from personal experience, if you tell somebody this soon after a job interview (b/c you had to have some interest in order to come all the way out for an interview) that you're not interested in the position, then either something about it didn't seem right or it just sounded like an awful job or something else that I haven't yet experienced.

2-10 in the Big-12 this year - and they didn't play Texas, Texas Tech or Oklahoma!

I had to stop working to enjoy all the malay over on the barn boards...
they are in complete, full blown meltdown mode. The ISU fans seem to be very enthusiastic about Chizik leaving too. It doesn't appear he's going to be off to a very good start with the Awbarn faithful.

I'm sorry, but go back to the DuBose replacement if you want to see a DuBacle. And for us it ONLY GOT WORSE!!

Butch Davis - never mind
Frank Beamer - never mind
Tommy Bowden - never mind
(All 3 got huge raises out of that)
Jackie Sherrill - called a press conference to say he wasn't going - the fact the job was not even going to be offered to him

So we wound up with a second-tier guy who had no class.
Ah, 20-20 hindsight. At the time, this was no where near the debacle of the Auburn hire of Chizik. Franchione was winning at TCU and was considered one of the up-and-coming coaches. Chizik is 5-19 in only 2 years as a head coach and wouldn't get an interview at any other major program.

Here's a good one I came across. LMAO @ the last comment on the post. They age this guys lunch after this topic btw.

" Does anybody else remember why we (true Auburn fans) hate Chizik in the first place? Well I for one do, he walked out on us after an undefeated season for greener pastures. Why the hell would anyone at Auburn want Chizik after what he did? He is also a complete @**@+@$ failure as a head coach and dont except that to change now that he has to compete with Mark Richt, Les Miles, Houston Nutt, Bob Petrino and Nick Saban sometimes Urban Meyer, Lane Kiffin and Steve Spurrier. Give me one good reason why an 18 year old kid would choose Auburn and GENE FREAKING 5-19 CHIZIK over our cross state rivals or any other school in the SEC given the same offer? This is an awful hire and Auburn fans know that, I am truly ashamed to be an Auburn fan. Face it we are the laughing stock of the state of Alabama, the SEC and the rest college football nation however insignificant it may be.

If you cant beat them join them, can you barners say Roll Tide?"
