Re: IF THE REMATCH IS ON! What will be BAMA'S game plan for the NC game?
The gameplan was fine overall. The team left 20+ points on the field. What game did yall watch? LSU is not some offensive juggernaut IMO. They are an extremely opportunistic team who uses their defense and special teams very effectively to win games. They should have been beaten that night. Execute correctly for 60 minutes and the Tide will ROLL!
Personally I don't think so. They couldn't handle Trent when he had a full head of steam. Instead we insisted on running him sideline to sideline so that the LSU defenders had the momentum. Those LBs and DL aren't going to much space to get going if we run Trent up the middle. Those LBs will just have to creep up and wait for TR. Not good for them.
And we leave a bunch of points on the field every game. Every team does. We have AJ miss wide open receivers, receivers drop sure touchdowns, missed field goals etc. As often as we were passing, they were gonna get an interception, and it resulted in a field goal that tied the game. Then we tried to pass instead of running the ball knowing that a passing play is the only play that could put us out of field goal range, but we passed and it took us out of field goal range and we lost the game. As our D demonstrated we didn't need a TD, just a field goal, and trust our D.
And the Maze throw was a horrible play call regardless of the outcome. Trent just busted off a huge, momentum-swinging, embarrassing (to LSU) run to get us into their territory. He's the leader of this team. All he wants is a national championship. He's vicious, he's like a shark he's smellin blood, feelin that killer instinct come on. And then you let Maze, who's only throw one other pass that was terribly underthrown but the guy was wide open, throw a pass against the best secondary in the nation, who happen to be notorious for not getting fooled on any crazy unlikely passes. Of course LSU stays at home (or at least recovers well enough), Maze underthrows it, LSU does what they do best, and Trent's killer instinct slowly burns out as he watches his prey swim away.
