We should do the wave at halftime...since I personally think we need more excitement then. (As I write this, I can already see the replies of what about respect to the bands)
Well, first of all, I must state that I hate the wave. I have hated it since I was an undergrad and I guess I will always hate it. That being said, when the game is not on the line, when we are up by 2 or 3 touchdowns late in the game or when there are long TV time-outs, or even during the new delays caused by use of replay to help out the refs, I can certainly see how it gives those who are bored something to do. I recognize that there are a whole new group of students every year who have never done it and think it is really cool and they want to do it. That's fine, just don't do it when we have the ball and the game is on the line.
Now, bamafancoop, Your comment will not get flamed by me. Not wanting to be the one who started a thread on the band show, I've been waiting for someone else to start one so that I could jump in. Well, not to highjack the thread, but Dr. Ozello cannot put together a show! Our band members are dedicated and work hard. They are talented and it shows. They are to be commended. They are doing the best they can with the music and shows they are given to work with. However, THE MUSIC AND THE SHOWS ARE BORING!
First game, MTSU's band really provided excitement to the halftime. They, too, were talented and I was pleased that those sitting around me gave them the applause that they deserved. Then, our MDB took the field and I was totally underwhelmed. Again, what they did, they did well. It just is not a show worth sitting there and watching when one can stretch one's legs, take a restroom break, and grab a dog and a non-cola carbonated beverage of one's choice (note: you can't purchase Coke at BDS so there's not a cola beverage worth purchasing.) I remember Dr. Ferguson's kaleidascope shows from my childhood. I loved them. They were always exciting and watching the formations change was definitely interesting. Since my undergrad days, Kathryn's shows were always exciting. I always tried to be sure to be in the stadium to enjoy the shows. However, all that is over. Unless and until Ken learns how to put together a halftime show that appeals to football fans, I'll be spending halftime on the concourse. Ken has got to go!
Oh, yeah...I notice he still has the band sitting high up under the East upper deck. Too bad for those of you stuck in the East upper deck who can't hear them playing in the stands. Thankfully, I'm now on the lower west side and can hear them.
