The Wave

Please...

Anyone else out there absolutely hate it when the crowd does the wave during the game? People... come on... this isn't a baseball game. There is a football game going on... please pay attention. :)
I've personally got no problem with it. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it actually gets the entire stadium involved in the game, including the "old people section."

I beg to differ. The wave is fun and anything that can positively support the team and get the fans involved needs to be done. I always have fun doing the wave and I don't miss one snap. I think it is totally possible to do the wave and pay attention to the game at the same time. C'mon diamond dust, Multi-Task, :)!!!!
Roll Tide, guys.....
2-0, let's beat South Carolina....

Yea, that wave is distracting. And the Band playing other than half-time tends to take away from the game. SOme people cannot concentrate when the band plays. And people talking during the game, I wish that they would do something about people talking so others could pay attention.

Come on man- that is a poor post. Just because YOU cannot pay attention when two things are going on does not mean we stop everything for you.

I don't see the issue. Its a stadium thing that has been around for awhile, and most everybody does it, not just baseball. I've seen it at hockey games too.

The Wave fits...we are the Crimson TIDE for crying out loud. Maybe we can call it that "Tidal" Wave.....oh wait, that is insensative to the Tsunami victims.

My 8 year old and I really enjoyed doing the wave last night. I'll make sure to tell him that we are not allowed to do fun things like the "wave" at the next football game that we attend. ;)

I think the wave is great and I participate until play resumes. The wave is great during breaks in the action like a TV timeout or when the game gets so out of hand that we have our whole 4th string in the game and nothing is really happening.

Usually its onde during TV timeouts or other delays. I have seen it a few times when Bama is on D.

Dont see how that interfere's with anything.

I think each person should stand up and jump up and down waving big crimson flags for at least 5 seconds. Then it would look like a large slow rolling wave and we could call it the BDS Crimson Tidal Wave. :biggrin2:

We should do the wave at halftime...since I personally think we need more excitement then. (As I write this, I can already see the replies of what about respect to the bands)

Well, first of all, I must state that I hate the wave. I have hated it since I was an undergrad and I guess I will always hate it. That being said, when the game is not on the line, when we are up by 2 or 3 touchdowns late in the game or when there are long TV time-outs, or even during the new delays caused by use of replay to help out the refs, I can certainly see how it gives those who are bored something to do. I recognize that there are a whole new group of students every year who have never done it and think it is really cool and they want to do it. That's fine, just don't do it when we have the ball and the game is on the line.

Now, bamafancoop, Your comment will not get flamed by me. Not wanting to be the one who started a thread on the band show, I've been waiting for someone else to start one so that I could jump in. Well, not to highjack the thread, but Dr. Ozello cannot put together a show! Our band members are dedicated and work hard. They are talented and it shows. They are to be commended. They are doing the best they can with the music and shows they are given to work with. However, THE MUSIC AND THE SHOWS ARE BORING!

First game, MTSU's band really provided excitement to the halftime. They, too, were talented and I was pleased that those sitting around me gave them the applause that they deserved. Then, our MDB took the field and I was totally underwhelmed. Again, what they did, they did well. It just is not a show worth sitting there and watching when one can stretch one's legs, take a restroom break, and grab a dog and a non-cola carbonated beverage of one's choice (note: you can't purchase Coke at BDS so there's not a cola beverage worth purchasing.) I remember Dr. Ferguson's kaleidascope shows from my childhood. I loved them. They were always exciting and watching the formations change was definitely interesting. Since my undergrad days, Kathryn's shows were always exciting. I always tried to be sure to be in the stadium to enjoy the shows. However, all that is over. Unless and until Ken learns how to put together a halftime show that appeals to football fans, I'll be spending halftime on the concourse. Ken has got to go!

Oh, yeah...I notice he still has the band sitting high up under the East upper deck. Too bad for those of you stuck in the East upper deck who can't hear them playing in the stands. Thankfully, I'm now on the lower west side and can hear them.
