I only got to see the first half of the game but FSU's O looked pretty anemic. Looked like poor blocking and poor execution. Of course, FSU's D stunk it up pretty good too. I couldn't believe the inept tackling by Mickey Andrew's D. What did you guys/gals think?

If you saw the second half, you'd be roasting Clemson.

The scheme was as sound as ever. The execution left much to be desired. Their o-line is going to struggle this year.

I would have liked to see the whole game, but I couldn't make it. Clemson looked unstopable in the first half.

they looked alot like a shula coached team in the second half, except they hung on for the win.

both teams looked incredibly sloppy at times
Yep, Clemson couldn't get out of its own way in the 2nd half...much like FSU in the 1st half.

Clemson looked like it had the more talented team though. Will be interesting to see how much improvement FSU can make before they play us.

What struck me was the adjustments by FSU. They stunk on ice during the first half, then came out swinging in the second. Clemson held on by the skin of their teeth.
Note for the Alabama staff, if you take a lead into the half, don't be complacent. FSU is very capable of making sound half-time adjustments. They are also very beatable.

FSU was having problems tackling all night as well. i wonder how much was first game issues, and how much is due to a lack of fundamentals and conditioning (ie bama teams in a lot of the last 4 years)

Something tells me this won't be an issue under Saban.

Like you, I felt FSU's o-line stood out because the played so poorly. I feel a bit better about playing FSU now.

Clemson... almost lost that game because of poor coaching. They had FSU down 24 to 3, but rather trying to grind the 'Noles into dust....they kept passing. :eek2: The announcers said Clemson wanted to keep passing because they wanted to practice...hoping it would help them later in the year. Whatever. If you want to practice throwing the ball...do it during practice or at least some small school who has no chance to come back on you. Dont do it against FSU!

IMO, when you got your opponent down, you need to put your boot on their neck. I felt that Clemson should have begun to try to run more often, grinding it out and running the clock. That game lasted another 30 to 45 minutes primarily because Clemson kept passing the ball, making incompletions andstopping the clock. This gave FSU more time to make a comeback.

I remember Auburn and LSU playing several years ago and LSU kept passing when they had AU down. AU came back and whipped them too and FSU almost came back and whipped Clemson last night.

Tommy B just plain coached a poor game and it almost bit him.

I have a feeling it won't be the same team that we face. However, I feel pretty good about our chances and its very evident that they have not been at the top of recruiting for the last several years.

FSU's O line and the offensive management by the QB and Coaching staff was terrible. Wasting timeouts on the 25 second clock and getting delay calls. Looked poorly coached. Clemson also looked big on the lines and seemed to have a better caliber of player. FSU defense will be a force to contend with when it comes time for us to play them. They gave Clemson fits in the second half once Andrews made his adjustments.

I think Jimbo called a good game but the players are garbage. Fagg and Carr should be one of the best tandems in the nation, but they stunk up the place. 3 catches for them? Come on.

FSU will be a lot better by the end of the year. Right now though they have no business being ranked. They probably have the best coaching staff in the nation but they don't have the players to make it work. Jimbo is probably the best O-coordinator in the game and Amato is a very good defensive guy. Having Trickett coaching the line also bodes well for the future.

So we'll beat FSU, but I'm glad we're playing them when we are because come November they ought to be a pretty good team.

Not the first time that's happened.

fsu has 3 frosh and 1 soph starting on their offensive line. They were 7-6 last year and still do not have a quality QB. Why were they ranked 19? What gives?
