Does he already have his degree? That might be why he is staying or getting his Masters.

I'm not sure. Let me say, I think Tebow is an incredible young man.

He's just not a prototype NFL QB.

The one negative in Meyers offensive scheme is that it doesn't prepare QB's or running backs for the NFL style game. That could hurt them in recruiting down the road.

It's probably why we got Trent Richardson if you think about it.

When watching Tebow play he sometimes reminded me of Richard Todd and Steve Young. It seems they did ok in the NFL.
Young had an absolute rocket arm. Tebow doesn't.

Todd wasn't as good overall as Tebow but he was more suited as a pocket passer. Even in the wishbone Bama, on passes, faked to the fullback, dropped backed seven yards, read the defense and threw.

Florida is all about scheme and timing. It works in college. Not in the NFL.

Do not be too quick to give the SEC championship to Florida. I know he is the darling of the Gators and the media, but NOT SO FAST. He played for Florida in 2007 and I think they won 7 or 8 games. The media and Meyers and all in Florida are trying to talk like he did it all alone. He had a lot of help. Yeah, he is good, but they will have to play the games. You never really know who is gonna jump out and win or lose a game or two.

See you on December 5, Mr. Tebow.
By the way, all the "he's not NFL material" talk is gotten lame and stale.
He's not playing in the NFL this year. Alabama isn't in the NFL. It is what it is, so let's see if our Tide can beat him and the Gators in the SECCG this year ... not the NFC Semi-finals.

I was thinking more of their running skills, leadership and toughness. He certainly doesn't have Steve Youngs arm, few do.

I see your point, but keep in mind that UF doesn't have a senior in their 2-deep on defense. Spikes and maybe 1-2 others may enter the Draft, but the Gators have some serious talent down there on both sides right now. Their only worry was losing Tebow. They won't have any real competition in the East. There's no question they're the team to beat in the SEC next year.

Hmmm, that would put him in the same company as Joe Montana, wouldn't it? Or Drew Brees? Actually though, Tebow would come much closer to being the "prototype" NFL QB since he's much bigger, much stronger and has a stronger arm than either Montana or Brees.

Weren't Jeff George and Ryan Leaf "prototype NFL QBs"? There are many other examples, but these are just two.

You see, Tim Tebow is a WINNER and Lord knows, there are plenty of NFL clubs who could use one of those.

BTW, recruiting is not now or ever will be a problem for UM as long as he's in Gainsville. His only problem will be which 25 blue chippers he wants each year. I'm just thankful that we'll be doing the same with Coach Saban.

Glad to see he didn't just go for the money. I wish more were like him.
Depends mostly how early he would have been drafted. Why take a chance getting hurt and losing all the $$$$. If he stays and graduates and gets hurt he will never make the money he would have made in just one year in the NFL.

First, the odds are slim he will wind up with nothing. Second there is insurance. Third, money is not the paramount concern to some.
I wish him nothing but the best. The guy has a lot of class.
Payton Manning did the same. How did that work out for him?

I'm curious as to what the NFL draft advisory board had to say about his projected draft status. Must not have been very high. It'd be very hard to walk away from potentially millions of $$ just to come back and play another year of college ball.

I've heard he projected as middle of the first round. Not sure what kind of year it is for quarterbacks overall. A lot of junior quarterbacks coming out, for sure.

I'm not sure why teams wouldn't be quick to draft him high. He's a little different that Vince Young in that he will be able to develop into a pro-style, pocket passer. Probably they don't like him because he's left-handed.

I don't like him. I think he has only had the success he's enjoyed so far because no defensive player ever gets a good, clean hit on him.

Same as the Mannings. All of the Mannings. :mad2:

I agree with you Boclive I don't think he wouls last if a defensive front line sacked him constantly. And that coul happen in Alabama's favor next year

Never a doubt in my mind. Timmy has grown to love the pub and hero worship too much to forego another year of being the biggest of the BMOC. Heck, who among us would trade another year with the Gators with Gainsville, much of the state of Florida and a lot of the nation at our feet for a clipboard in the NFL?

This is just my opinion on the whole Tim Tebow decision. Frankly, other than completing his 4 years at Florida, what more does he have to play for? He's already been apart of two National Championship teams( one as a starter, and the other as a backup to Leak). Plus, he has won the Heisman Trophy and other accolades and awards. The guy is a good football player and one that if, and when he goes pro I am sure will succeed. If you listen to the media it's all Tebow, and very little the Florida Gators. That can have an impact on a team, even if the coaches and players try to deflect that aspect. It's still will be there the more the media hypes Tebow. He's done a fabulous job as a player, and as a symbol while at the university for other players to strive to be like. Again I fail to see what more he needs to accomplish while at the University of Florida. I am glad because maybe Bama can have another shot at him, if we make it to Atlanta again. Could it be a bit too much pride? Possibly. Sure, it is great to be labeled and talked thru the media about "greatest quarterback or greatest player in college football today", but karma can come back on someone. It can be the best of times, and just as quickly, it can be the worse of times. One injury can derail everything. Just look at Tom Brady this year. I wish Tebow the best of success in life until he meets Bama again on the football field.

I feel like I'm a better person just for having read that article. :p_eyes:

Seriously, I think he is a fine young man and an exceptional athlete. He has the kind of leadership, drive, and determination that you don't see very often. I would love to see a QB for the Tide on the sideline challenging and encouraging his teammates even half as much as Tebow does.

I am tired of hearing about how great he is, but that's not his fault. It's the fault of all the goobers who fawn over him like he really is Superman. All in all I think he handles it all pretty well. Most people would be unbearable if that much praise and adolation was heaped on them.
