Another thing that I've noticed is that in everyone's assesment of JPW's interception at the end of the 1st half, the key operative words have been "...should have taken the SACK instead of throwing the ball into .. " the endzone in coverage. How come it is that no one is dog whipping the offensive lineman who let down on his blocking assignment to allow JPW to be put in that position?

So you are saying that it is the offensive lineman's fault that JPW didn't take the sack? Or are you saying that it is the offensive lineman's fault that JPW threw the interception?

Stuff happens during the course of the game. Those things are usually outside the QB's control, but the QB still has to make decisions. You'd usually like those to be good decisions. Bad decisions can be excused if the QB is a freshman, but JPW IS A JUNIOR. I think that has a lot to do with everyone's assessment of JPW.

Red, do you live in a neighborhood with a bunch of LSU fans? I see you live in Shreveport. I won't live this one down for a year. I've been getting the business since the clock hit triple ought yesterday afternoon.

Yes, lots of LSU fans here, but they really are not so bad. Shreveport's LSU fans, I think, are a little easier to get along with than what you would find in Red Stick. I imagine I would not even wear any Bama gear on my person or vehicle if I lived down that way. I will catch a little crap about yesterday, I am sure, but it will pass soon enough.

I don't know if McElroy can do any better, I have no idea how good he is or is not. But I want to find out. La-Monroe is just awful and it couldn't hurt to at the very least give Greg a chance to go in and see what he is made of. JP had the worst game of his career against MSU and something needs to be done. Even if it is just sending a message to JP. But all we needed Saturday was a qb who would not make mistakes to get us beat, and JP could not do that. Without the 2 interceptions Bama wins this game.

I need some help understanding something.....this is not "piling" on JPW, saying he makes great decisions 100% of the time or that he should be replaced, but here's the question: what exactly was JPW doing on the 3rd & 15 late in the 4th qtr. when he ran what appeared to be a QB draw? I know there is no way MA would EVER make that play call in that situation (since we have only run about 2 all year) so I must believe 1 of 3 things happened: 1) JPW "panicked" for some reason (with no pressure) 2) JPW thought he could gain 15 yds. on his own (I won't even to begin to try & explain this) 3) JPW & the rest of the 10 off. players were on a completely different page.
AGAIN, I am just trying to get another perspective to this 1 puzzling play on a day of many puzzling plays by lots of bama players & coaches..

If Mcelroy was that enough to put in instead of JPW, why burn the redshirt on Fannuzzi against WCU? My best guess is that JPW will be the guy for the rest of the season, and if a change is made, it will be to Fannuzzi or someone they sign this year.

And I understand it's not my "right" to know. But being a fan I like to know as much about the team as I can. Nothing wrong with that. Many times if you don't ask you won't know. Worse case scenario is you don't ever find out.

I know the answer to that question has been answered more than once on this board by a couple of the Admin (Jess & Earle).

It's amazing how at the first of the year everyone was singing JPW's praises and singing about how he was the one to take us to the promissed land and now we're all ready to lynch him.

Y'all can gang up on JPW as much as you would like but it's not gonna make our offensive line block any better and it's not gonna make other players not make dumb off the field decisions that can ( and have ) hurt the rest of the team on the field.

If you're gonna stand behind the team then do so. If you're gonna complain constantly and second guess everything then start wearing blue and orange.

If you've got first and goal from the three, and you can't make three yards in two running plays, then your QB makes a bad decision on third down, you have seven page threads about how your QB needs to be replaced. Seems like, if you're gonna replace the QB you should also replace others.

I do think it is a legit question as to why the staff chooses not to use Johns in short yardage situations when both of our other "big backs" (Coffee and Upchurch) are out. Especially when we've seen how easy Grant is to bring down and how hard Johns is to bring down.

I know for a fact CNS has his "valid reasons" for not doing it but I tend to believe the "valid reasons" have nothing to do with him not being the better back over Lowe and Grant on the goal line.

One more thought- for those that think all this is too critical of the qb...
Take the goal line situation yesterday...on one of run attempts, IF the running back had fumbled the ball on a run and was returned for a touchdown by the other team, would that be the Olines fault too? Or the RBs fault? And if that running back consistently does that, how many chances does he get to run the ball after a point? Just sayin...

If they did not think they could play in the SEC they would not have been recruited and sighned to start with. There is more to a QB than kneeling on one knee at the 50 and throwing through the goal post.You never know what that dog will do till hes backed up in a corner. For every Manning there is a Ryan Leaf.

If that was the play call, then I will stand corrected in my stmt. that CMA would never make that call in that situation...that's just one more question I will add to my list regarding the L to MSU.
AMAZING that a QB draw is the best we could do there?! Granted we weren't exactly lighting it up through the air, but a draw to Lowe had more opportunity than a JPW draw, IMO. GEEEEEEZZZ, what a day! Oh well, on to La. Monroe.

Even if you put G-mac in VS ULM, what do you really learn? The defense of ULM is nothing compared to what you will see from any SEC team. Besides, G-Mac's arm is not as strong as JPW's. Having seen him play in HS I question if he has the arm to make all the throws.

I am not trying to knock G-Mac but, even in Texas 5A ball, the DB's are nothing top to bottom compared to what he will see in the SEC....

I agree WylieTexasTider that we don't learn much if he plays in the ULM but somebody needs some reps just in case something does happen.
We may not have a QB on the team that can make all the throws but we just need one that can read the field and make good decisions. One receiver has already said that they were open all day.

JPW is not getting the job done. This guy has completely lost it with his throwing mechanics, as he's throwing off of his backfoot, which results in lack of zip in his passes and not being accurate with his passes at all. ...
