Some surprises here..both those staying and some going.

I think CNS told Ty the job is open.
I don’t know what else would keep him in Tuscaloosa. I was impressed with him at KY. He may have developed well through the season like Hurts did in 2017. CNS knows what’s happening when the cameras are off. He’s had actual coaching from CTR.

Moving on I don’t see a certain te’s name yet?

Again, I have zero information, but I truly believe TS was told (and he believed) there will be a legit open competition for the starting job and he has a good chance of getting it. I think both Saban and Rees know that as of RIGHT NOW the offense is limited with J Milroe behind center and until he shows he can develop out of those limitations, they have to keep their options open to getting the best player back there to run the offense. I just don't see a scenario where TS was told otherwise and he still decides to a stay.

I’m guessing the team wasn’t 100% behind Milroe at the end of the season.

This is something I've thought about as well. As the season played on the players may have started to realize Jalens limitations and the limitations he brought to the offense.

If the broadcast teams (Gary D and Nessler) knew the RPO's were predetermined who would get the ball and they knew the offense had to be adjusted and condensed then so did the players around him. It is very possible that once they realized how those things were impacting them on the field they may have understood why Saban handled the QB situation the way he did at the beginning of the season rather than just naming JM the starter. But TS deciding to stay ,IMO, speaks volumes of how the QB competition will be handled this offseason.

Have to wonder if the year was a big growing experience for Ty.

This time last year he probably assumed, like a lot of us, he'd win the job and start this year. He didn't, but then he had time to evaluate why he didn't and grow from that.

Somebody compared that to what Jalen had to do in 2018. That's what got him ready for OU the following year when he transferred.

Also have to wonder how much Jason Simpson must have given his son some fatherly and coaching advice about the situation.

Ultimately, it had to have been based on something CNS told Simpson in the post-season meeting.

The case of Seth M.'s snapping issues is just baffling.

For a player with his experience, it's just bizarre.

I mean, the snapping motion from center to QB is a pretty simple, repeatable process. In a given year, most centers probably don't have more than a handful of errant snaps. But SM's were just wildly erratic from the velocity to the aim it was just awful.

Somebody compared it to the yips. Had to be something like that because as bad as the OL play has been, there's no way this wasn't worked on in practices.

yeah - I agree that something like that was likely the conversation.

I also hope they sit Jalen down and are really candid about the limitations he needs to address, although I am sure some degree of that discussion has been had. It needs to be, we are going to run this type of offense (Pro/spread variant, whatever), these are the things that will be required of the QB, and the person who does those things the best will get the job. Now, here are the areas where you don't yet do what needs to be done; get to work between now and spring...

agreed - especially given he'd played in 21 games, with 11 starts before this season, with over 1200 snaps across that time, and it had not been an issue until this year.
