Yeah... the timing of the portal relative to the NBA draft is tough to navigate. The truth is, if we knew he was gone right now, we could go get the best PG available due to the available funds. I'm sure there's a plan in place, BUT it's a plan with diminishing options and has a real chance of negatively affecting our ability to construct a roster.

I would be shocked if he wasn't gave a hard deadline on when he was to make a decision. I think the original headline was probably accurate in that he is going to the NBA. We more than likely are looking for a replacement as we speak. I wish him nothing but the best and could see a return being very beneficial to him but I also understand the allure to making the jump.

There are whispers that are claiming Philon has left the door open to returning if the draft options don't fall his way... similar to what Sears did last year. The announcement didn't read that way, but that's what some are saying. TIFWIW

They should have a decent amount of money left now they they have answers from Reid, Stevenson, and Philon look to be gone. I think they make push for Pierre or Ian Jackson then bring in the guy from Mississippi State Murphy then either go after a point guard or Rylan Griffin.

And Jaron Pierre, the kid from Jax State, has committed to SMU. Options are definitely dwindling. It may be someone new has to jump in the portal, as others have suggested, because of the open spaces at Bama.

I didn't really want him anyways. He's too much of an offensive liability for the way we play. Now granted, he would've been better than nothing, but maybe someone of interest at that position will enter.

We have had five or less returning players for the last 3-4 years so it is not new ground. It is the new landscape of the transfer portal/NIL. I saw where Bucky McMillan at A&M has no returning players.
