If Gottfried gets Lacey, I will be physically sick.
I don't get Lacey. I understand an 18 year old kid being indecisive. I do. What I don't get is the "It's Alabama and Kentucky battle" talk to people throwing UCONN and Kansas in the mix. Then AU replaces UCONN. AND now NC State might have joined.

I'm not positive, but I don't believe he has ever came out and gave a definitive favorite or top 3-4 list. Most of the team names being thrown out are just from people who thinks everytime he takes a visit his top team changes.

Cecil Hurt tweeted that Lacey told Rivals that he "probably won't know" about college choice until he "picks that hat up" on May 18.

Hope he isn't this indecisive on the court?

IMO, the reason Lacey hasn't picked a school yet is because he is not eligible and he is waiting to see which one gets him admitted. Thus the interest in *U. I really look for Lacey to not play college ball unless it is Juco,

It's harder to get into AU than Bama for a student. For athletes, I think entrance requirements are the same.

Are you saying that he has applied to schools and is waiting to see which one he gets admitted to before the May 18th deadline? He waited for the late signing period to see what players would do regarding the NBA draft. That is why Kansas came into the picture after Josh Shelby declared for the NBA draft. Coach Grant doesn't waste his time recruiting players that don't have a shot of qualifying. See the Luke Corthon recruitment last year. It's not uncommon for basketball recruits to wait until the last minute to decide where they are going.

I am not sure this is a correct statement. UA has a lower acceptance rate(60.4 to 70.8)(UA has higher numbers of applicants and accepted fewer than AU). I do not believe either school has a minimum test score requirement (many factors go into acceptance decisions) and the average scores on testing of accepted students is pretty much the same. All that being said I do not believe for the average student there is a large difference in quality of students at either university.

It is best that I refrain from giving my opinions on the academic requirements of student athletes as many AU fans would not appreciate them.

I'm not so sure about that either. I know Alabama blows Auburn away on National Merit Scholars. The University of Alabama has 83 new National Merit Scholars - al.com

I also know Alabama has more USA Today Academic All-Americans than any other school (even Harvard). USA Today All-USA Academic Team - The University of Alabama

Maybe of the ones we get we just get the smartest of the smart and the brightest of the bright. :)

The All-Academic team isn't based on how students perform in high school, but how they perform at the university. My understanding is that it's not a matter of just getting into school that everyone is concerned about, but getting cleared by the NCAA to play. If he's cleared by the NCAA, I don't know many state schools that would not admit him, and there's not a private school on his list.

Also, I should say that I know nothing about Lacey's eligibility status nor have information that would lead me to speculate that he either will or won't qualify, just clarifying the eligibility issue as I understand it.

When I was applying for college 2 years ago, I had friends that applied to both schools. It was easier for them to get into UA. A reason is AU has less room, not because the academics are better.

May 18 is 2 days before Trevor's graduation. I'd think he'd know all grades by then to indicate what school he can attend.
