Understanding why it did this is essential to figuring out how to handle the regime.

It reminds me of the end of the war with Japan, where you had a "moderate" (meaning accepting of surrender before seeing the entire country incinerated) regime in control, with a "war, at any cost" party lusting for power. Then, in Iran, we swooped in and did away with the closest thing to a moderate party. The sheer stupidity of the people running this country now just overwhelms me at times...

Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq refinery has been struck by drones, causing a massive fire at the facility and the East-West Pumping Station. NASA FIRMS satellite imagery confirms extensive fire activity at the site.

Abqaiq is the world’s largest crude oil stabilization plant, processing 5-7% of global oil supply.

Saudi Arabia has blamed Iran-backed resistance groups in Iraq for the attack, begun emergency flaring at multiple production sites, and says it reserves the right to respond.

I don't know what the answer is, but maybe it's time for the world to consider coming together and eradicating these terrorist organizations by any means necessary. At some point you have to stop negotiating with primates that literally have no moral code and simply destroy them.

I agree, the world needs to stand up and eradicate the terrorist Trump administration, which is the one that started this stupid war.


Will the Saudis actually do anything this time besides reserving the right to respond? What's the point of making a reservation if you never show up?

I don't know what the answer is, but maybe it's time for the world to consider coming together and eradicating these terrorist organizations by any means necessary. At some point you have to stop negotiating with primates that literally have no moral code and simply destroy them.

There is an old Roman proverb… “the victor is not victorious until the vanquished considers itself vanquished”.

The problem is that Americans see war in tactical sense and not in a strategic sense. Iran is the opposite. We can’t win this war and everyone knows it. To use Trump’s own words “we don’t have the cards”.

We put boots on the ground they become a fish feed for rockets…

We nuke them… they destroy the water desalination stations in the gulf states that basically make our nuclear attack look like a footnote in the conflict by comparison.

The major problem is that we have judged them as irrational religious fanatics and they have proven to be far better at war than any enemy we have fought since Vietnam.

Diplomacy is the only way out of this. Escalation has no benefit

It is easy to forget how many martyrs have been created in Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria on an on. The west is not innocent in all of this. It goes back literally to the formation of religion itself.

The only legitimate Arab army in the modern world was defeated in 2003. The Gulf States have heavily relied on the Americans, Russians, and Chinese to apply enough pressure on Iran to not close the shipping lanes.

As for why they still won’t do it is because of the desalination plants. 24-48 million people would be without access from water within a week if Iran targeted them. The 2 Israeli/American- Iran wars have exposed the Israeli missile defense system and American military capabilities in asymmetrical war to be over hyped. So the Gulf Arabs aren’t in any position to make moves above their capabilities.

The time for the Gulf States to have dealt with this problem was in the Iran-Iraq war but the Arab states refused to back Sadaam. Now they have to live in Iran and Turkey’s military dominance over them.
