IF he should come back, it creates a QB problem for us, even if it's a good one. Does Young decomit? Which of Tyson, Taulia and Mac transfer? If he does come back, do any of the eligible WRs decide to stay?
Agreed the injuries have built a narrative that, depending on varying perspectives, suggests he's either been very unlucky or he's just flat out injury prone.

I've kicked around the possibilities of him coming back - pro and con - and I just can't see any good reasons for him to do so for himself. In a selfish way an extra Tua year might pave the way to a smoother transition to a new QB like Young, Maye or Tualia.

As for his draft status...I really think him dropping could be a blessing in disguise for much longer and more successful career. Again, with his injury narrative, I kinda fear him going to a team that hasn't got a seasoned OL/RB situation.

He's almost averaging a surgery a quarter since that TD pass to Smitty v. UGA. By my estimation he's had 5 surgical procedures in the ~24 months. So that is roughly a surgery every 4.8 months. We're well past him being unlucky. He's injury prone and that is why he's gotta go pro now before he has another one. His next injury needs to be while on payroll.
I agree. I've loved watching the dude sling it around, and he seems to be a very solid person on top of his top level athleticism. I want him to be able to take care of his family by taking some of that NFL money, so I say thank you for your time in Tuscaloosa, Tua. Of course, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he came out and said that he hadn't done everything he wanted to do in Tuscaloosa just yet.

It's hard to believe that it would pay for him to come back to reestablish value. OTOH, there's the hand, both ankles and now a freak hip injury. I'll still continue to defend him against the "fragile" label. It's not accurate. However a case can be made that he keeps making decisions which place him in the way of harm. You can see how some GMs might just not want to take a chance. Jeez, what a choice...
Easy for me to see Tua's 'Problem'.
Tua is the age when they see themselves as bulletproof...
Tua is the age where he thinks being a hell of an athlete is normal.
The age where young guys get injured, BUT the guy's like Tua have a Superman complex.
It's it can't/won't happen to me.

BTDT

I was one of those guys. I did lots of dumb things and walked away w/o a scratch.
I was smart, fast, in exceptional condition...
( Lucky, but didn't know it )
Then suddenly I wasn't the smartest, fastest, but, I continued to make some dangerous decisions. Then it hit me... HARD... Karma took a bite...
Some lessons can be a slap in the face.

Tua will be a little wiser from life lessons & hard knocks.
(I hope)
While Tua is doing rehab, he needs to watch video of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and a couple dozen Pro quarterbacks getting rid of the ball to avoid getting hard hits on the football field.
THE QB CANT EXTEND EVERY PLAY ON HIS OWN .

You know just about a month ago most of us laughed about the possibility of Tua coming back for a 4th year. Of course, that was before his hip injury and that certainly could change things.

If there was a desire for him to play another year (for any reason, whether it's "unfinished business" or just to improve his draft status) it is interesting to think about the great potential for next year.

Could Smith perhaps stay to improve his draft status if he's not a first rounder? Think about Tua throwing to Waddle and Metchie and Bolden? Next year's defense will surely be more experienced, deeper and hopefully better.

I still doubt it happens but I betcha all of us would get real giddy over another year of seeing him spin it.

Hahaha, there is no doubt that all of us would enjoy seeing him sling it around in the crimson and white another year. However, we also want what is best for Tua and all of our guys, so it is impossible for me to imagine him not going pro.

Maybe I should know the answer to this, but if Tua or one of the WR or whomever does decide to return, that doesn't affect how many Bama can sign on signing day does it? I assume they would not make a decision until January, yet signing day is in December and Feb.

Also, when do the players get their assessment grade back from the NFL draft experts about which round they may be projected in? This may influence who returns and who leaves early.

Personally, I would love for Tua and at least 1 of the trio of WR to return, but I really think it is best for Tua that he leaves early for the NFL.

Yes, it does affect the scholly cap, which is hard at 85...

The bottomline is devonta, ruggs, jeudy and tua will not play for Alabama in 2020.

It’s time to turn the page folks...
A month ago I was smirking at some who asked if Tua might return for another year, but his injury has changed the context of the discussion. Bottom line is we don't know what he will do.

Also, I think all of us should want him to do what is best for him and his NFL career.

Also, concerning Smith, he's way underappreciated in the draft discussions and if he were to return he might change that. FWIW, I think some wise NFL team will snatch him up real fast.

I can't predict Ruggs or Smith (wouldn't be surprised if both leave though) but Tua is gone. If he stays I'll gladly eat crow. But hes gone.

If anyone stays, my bet would be on Ruggs...
Agree - he has blinding speed, but his routes are not as crisp as Smith or Jeudy, and that is more important than speed in the NFL. Of course he could work on that in combine prep, but will he get a 1st round grade before he goes through that prep?

There are about 7 receivers who will receive 1st round grades this year, and only 4 or 5 will go in the 1st round. There have been a few years in which 5 or 6 WRs went in the 1st round, but most of those have gone in the bottom half of that round. If Ruggs comes out, even if he is taken in the first round, it would be late - likely no earlier than the 6th WR drafted. If he stays another year he would likely be an early 1st rounder.

When you think about it, both Jeudy and now Smith have had monster years during their careers at Alabama. They've proven themselves in every way possible. Ruggs has the same or maybe even better potential; we've all seen it. But, he's the only one who has yet to have that truly monster season. With 3 or 4 great WRs, it's very difficult for that to happen for all of them anyway.

So, Ruggs coming back would make a little sense. Him going pro does too, but coming back and being the lead guy with 1000 yards and 15 TDs would make him a sure fire 1st round pick. I agree he would be the most up in the air at this point.

That's the way I see it also. He would have a year to work on routes and be one of the two main men, with Waddle. Ruggs, Waddle, Metchie and Shaver won't make folks forget this year's corps, but it'll go a long way in that direction. Ruggs also wouldn't face the competition in the draft from his own teammates...
