For all the people talking about walking away from college football because of the transfer portal and NIL...honest question...would you be saying that if Bama had just torn through the playoffs and won another national championship and looked poised to continue challenging for the national championship every year for the foreseeable future?

In most cases I would say yes, but in Beck’s case he had already “moved on” from Georgia basically by declaring that he was entering the draft. If I had to guess at how this went down...

  1. Beck announced intention to enter NFL draft
  2. Beck’s agent consults with NFL guru’s and does NOT get much interest in high draft rounds
  3. Agent advises Beck to enter portal
  4. Beck switches decision and enters portal
  5. Beck’s agent contacts Miami
  6. Beck signs with Miami
#5 very well could have happened prior to #4, but at that point I think whether or not the agent contacted Miami before or after he officially entered the portal is moot - especially in today’s wild, wild west.

Point is - he seemed to have a very specific destination in mind once he got limited NFL interest and had an agent to make the move happen.
…OR…his hot girlfriend said come to Miami.

I hate thieves, but I'm also not very fond of people who come into a monetary windfall and (instead of investing it to secure their finances for the rest of their lives) spend it on crap.

All pro athletes in every sport are being targeted by thieves. Mostly from South America who research the athlete, fly in with a plan, steal their crap and are back to South American by time the police even find out. There are two things that need to change really. We have the ability through AI tools to pattern match and find these people. I'm not talking about mass surveillance of the public, I'm talking about mass surveillance of foreign nationals who fly into the US. There are no constitutional issues when it comes to foreign nationals flying into the US. In my opinion all of them need to be tracked. When I fly international I assume no personal wrights or privacy. I'm on their turf. Secondly pro athletes need to find a way to scrub the internet of their home location. Posting pictures on tic toc of your new sports car is a terrible idea.
