"You've been a bad boy, Urban. Go sit in the corner for 15 minutes and think about what you did. Let that be a lesson to you. Did you get some stuff done around the house during your paid leave?"

I don't see how someone doesn't end up taking a fall for this. Sounds like they are going to decide Urbz did what he was supposed to do (eye roll) by reporting his assistant up the line. (Rhetorically, I'm not sure why it had to play out this way -- if the Buckeyes gave up six passing touchdowns to Penn State and Urban fired the DB Coach that night, I'd expect that is clearly within his authority).

So, someone up the chain of command dropped this (or swept it under the rug). The University President probably doesn't want to conduct the investigation to find out who that was and why they decided what they did, especially if it was him. That information may or may not be in the law firm report. But if he wants to discipline the head football coach and the Board of Trust (or whatever they call it) overrules him, I don't see how he doesn't resign.
A possibility you seem to be ignoring is that not only did the committee discover that Meyer did properly report any and all information he knew regarding the Smiths but the committee also discovered evidence that strongly supports Zach Smith's assertion that his wife was making up and/or exaggerating most, if not all, of her claims of abuse.

If that is the case, then your tune should be quite different.

While this is correct, one still has to ask why Meyer did not let Zach go to protect the school from that couple. It might not have been fair, but it would have been the best thing to do to protect the school. Even if Meyer did nothing else wrong, he should be reprimanded for putting Zach ahead of the school. Not sure what form that reprimand should take because I don't have all the facts.

I don't blame Meyer for the abuse. IMO, anyone who does is as crazy as the Smith couple. But I do blame him for putting my school through this mess.

That's more than fair.

Part of his responsibility as a face of the University, as I'm sure even he would agree, is to properly represent the University. Even if he technically did nothing wrong, he failed to do that.

This is an interesting take. Perhaps Drake sees Ohio State as a bit of a sinking ship for himself, personally, with all of the bad publicity lately and is looking to get out with as much positivity as he can - and doing so by making himself out to be a martyr seems like a good idea?
If he is taking this stance based on principle, I have no problem with it - heck, I applaud it. But if he is taking this stance to appease the mob, he is wasting his time. You cannot appease a mob. Mobs are not rational.

Of course, you're assuming there that he isn't putting his own interests ahead of OSU's at OSU's expense.

If Zach and Courtney show up along with the Amazon delivery dude, things are getting weird....
McMurphy tweeted earlier that Courtney Smith was upset because OSU had not checked with her to see if she has anything to eat for lunch.

They just moved the cars of Urban and Shelley - turned them around, pointing away so they won't have to back up into a huge crowd of reporters. Looks like they are about to break for the night.

Thanks for all the postings, B1G!

Thread wouldn't be as informative without you.

Sorry if it's already been posted, but are you there on site? How are you getting this info/ Through a OSU forum?

I am in the northeast this week. Getting my information from a few friends, one of whom was there for most of the afternoon (sitting in a lawn chair ).

The President may be pushing back because he knows the BoT will stick him in front of the microphone to deliver the report and status of Meyer. If the public outcry for retaining Meyer or little to no further suspension is more severe than expected the BoT can offer him as a sacrificial lamb even though he may have objected behind closed doors. The BoT is not going to put themselves in a position where they have to face the music directly on this.

Depending on the choice made by the BoT, the President has a choice to make secure his employment or stand by his virtues. He wins in the long run if he chooses the latter and pockets some short term money for getting fired.

Understand that the BoT does not care about "blowback" from the mob. If Drake can't get behind their decision, he should resign.

I don’t think it would make much sense to punish Urban if he followed protocol. A suspension in the case would be uncalled for. If it turns out he was involved in something then that’s a different story.
