Wal Mart Brawl Erupts - Four Arrested

Authorities are continuing to investigate a 30-person brawl at a New York Wal-Mart that led to four arrests.
Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode says the fight started around 7 p.m. Sunday after two 17-year-olds made fun of a dress worn by a 24-year-old woman. He says the altercation quickly escalated into a melee.

The chief says people went into the sporting goods section of the store and got baseball bats to use in the fight.

Police say a 17-year-old girl threw a can of food at a 52-year-old man, hitting him in the head. She's charged with assault, harassment and related offenses. Three others have been charged with disorderly conduct.

Garbage like this is why I avoid Walmart like the plague. But, it's only one of a thousand reasons.

We suck it up and do a "wal-mart" run, once a month....Sunday morning is the best time to go.... (FYI)

And then we do the rest of our shopping at places that cost more -- but provide much less stress

I can't help it. I love a good spectacle even if baseball bats are swinging haphazardly but with conviction.

I really don't understand these comments. Walmart offers no special stress for me. I go to the Hwy 280 Walmart (Greystone) once a week, and I also go to the Publix across the road at least once a week. I like both stores. In fact, the Publix tends to be more crowded due to its smaller footprint.

Well get counts where you go in Birmingham to where the stress level can increase or not. Hwy 280 is pretty much safe compared to other wal-marts in that area. I went to the one on Lakeshore and can say stress level was very high. Not to argue but just saying.
