Well the barn were getting the spots last night against USC! I saw at least 4 times in the first half, the line judge coming in and spotting the ball at least a 1/2 foot to a full foot closer to the 1st down mark! SEC officiating is still around!
This happened for Arkansas also in our game. I was sitting there watching one time when the ref spotted the ball for Arkansas a full foot ahead of where it should have been, and it was obvious he was doing it on purpose because he started to put the ball down, and then changed the motion of his arm to move it forward right at the very end. He had his foot on the actual spot where the ball should have gone, but put the ball a foot in front of that. I saw them do the opposite to us a time or two.

Yes but after the measurement the clock starts with a 25 second play clock. Otherwise the game clock would have been running with the standard 40 second play clock after a play ends. It was kind of annoying because the play was quite short of the first down, but the referee and clock operator did nothing technically wrong.
Thanks for that. I thought that was the rule (40 seconds on a normal play/25 if they have to do a measurement). I still think they were late getting the clock started.
Fortunately, it didn't matter.

I thought i noticed this too. I wasn't sure if I was just being paranoid or what. Ref's are supposed the put the middle of the ball where their downfield foot stands. Well, the refs seemed to put the ball behind their foot for us and ahead of their foot for the pigs.
They were using the wrong foot so many times too. They should always mark with the downfield foot. When they mark with the upfield foot, it is easier to place the ball upfield. Minor points, but I noticed it a couple of times in close spots.
Oh well, Think I'll go eat some pork chops!:biggrin2:

I bet the Waltons are pretty ....ed. You pay good money to buy these officials and even then, they can't manage to throw the game to your team. Sometimes you can't get what you pay for, even when you are the richest family in the world...
