See, this is what I'm taking about. I never said the OL was THE problem, I said they were a problem. Suggest anything Milroe wasn't 100% at fault gets a swift and immediate challenge.

One guy said the OL wasn't the problem at all. I saw our line getting whipped time after time in 1 on 1 situations, sometimes immediately.

If you think those things don't hurt the effectiveness of a qb , I don't know what to tell you but it not grounded in football reality.

I just want everyone to have a voice without being ALL CAPPED with an agenda driven opinion.

CKD's press conferences are so uninformational and full of word salads, I'm surprised reporters actually show up.
I rarely listen to the coach call-in show but a few weeks ago I was in my vehicle while it was on so I listened to a few minutes of it. A caller asked CKD who is mentors are and CKD launched into a long, rambling non-answer. Chris Stewart seemed to think that CKD didn't understand the question, so he rephrased it and CKD gave another rambling non-answer. It was at the moment that I realized that CKD was going to have a hard time endearing himself to Bama fans who are used to solid, real responses to questions. It wasn't as if the caller has asked what top secret plays, we were working on for the Auburn game and no reason why CKD couldn't have provided some answer even if he had said it was his former college coach or something like that. My immediate thought was that if he wins then he will be ok but if not, then the fans are going to withdraw their support quickly if that is a typical response to questions.

There are defensive linemen that require more than one guy for protection which means the QB (no matter who the QB is) needs to recognize that and either change the protection or change the play. You know, AUDIBLE, which we couldn't do.

Probably so, with the QB he had. I bet the playbook wasnt more than 12-15 plays...

As I posted in the post-game thread on the Michigan game, my biggest complaint was the horrible play calling from Sheridan since the LSU game. It just hasn't changed at all and he should've learned from the Oklahoma game. I mean, is that the best you can do?

I've got a friend who talked me through a recent difficult situation with this kind of wisdom:

He basically identified the common denominator in two situations that basically had the same results.

The last two years we've had two different HCs and two different OCs and both seasons were very, very disappointing.

But there was ONE common denominator.

Yes, you can only identify the impact removing one variable at a time...

BTW, post #68 doesn't mean I wouldn't be opposed to some changes on the offensive side.

Two changes can be needed, but at least we know the common denominator has been removed!

DM21 is sounding like another poster that thought Milroe could do no wrong the last two years and has been MIA since the season ended. Makes me question if that's him now using another username.

I don't defend Milroe. I'm glad he's moving on as well, but there's a way to handle an under performing player.

I blame the coaches for missing on two or three years of qb recruiting. He's the worst qb we've had in over a decade but he did what was asked of him. There are/were other problems, especially on offense.

If there were better , they would have played. We've seen plenty of Ty, he just wasn't ready. I hope he will be soon.

I guess it's just too much for me to think we'd treat players better.

As has been said on this board many times: You have to have a QB who can execute the plays in order to adjust and call a wider variety of plays.
To put it another way: we've had two OCs in the last two seasons and the same qb. People want to blame two OCs (one of whom is about to get promoted in the NFL, by the way) instead of the 1 common denominator.

It is what it is.

There's more to the story. It's not that simple. All I will say about that.
Look back at DeBoer's history. He has not been afraid to change.

Dig in to the info on this board a bit. There's lots of info about why NILroe was playing, and it didn't have anything to do with his, or Ty's, performance in practice or games.

Truth is, we've not really seen what Ty can do. We got one half against USF in 23, when he'd been getting third team reps and we had a few players in mutiny mode so Ty was getting next to no help. We do know that a chunk of the WRs this year wanted Ty to start, and talked to the staff about it and have left the team because of how the staff handled it. Their opinion is likely the closest to the 'truth' of who was capable and not...

As well as one player from last year who chose Ty Simpson to throw to him during his "pro day. Hmmmm.

One of the things that impressed me about Coach Saban was the way he would speak to his team through the media. He tended to avoid the "coachspeak," and use his platform to drive points home to the team, knowing the media would hang on his every word. His interactions with the media were purposeful.
Maybe Coach DeBoer could use some coaching on that score.
I think DeBoer speaks to the players directly and keeps the media out of it.
