I think its telling about the Texas defense. Texas gave up 298 against Louisiana Monroe, 414 against Texas Tech, 311 against OU, 303 against Kansas, and 532 against A&M, to mention a few. These teams aren't putting up the points they should be against Texas because the Texas has came up with turnovers in crucial situations.
Then keep in mind the most Bama has given up was against Tennesee (341 and our worst game, defense got no help from our running game) and Florida (335). After that there's a pretty big drop-off. I mean we gave up 155 against VT.
In the five toughest games Texas has played (TT, OU, OSU, A&M, and Nebraska), the disparity between the yards of Texas and their opponents is 153...in favor of Texas' opponents. On the other hand, that disparity for Alabama against VT, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, and Florida is 572 in favor of Bama...and I think most would agree we play tougher defenses. Not meaning to condescend on UT but it seems like a lucky streak to me, although to their credit they have won the important battles.
