coldest? 1984 Ala vs Cincy in Riverfront Stadium

Wettest? 1984 the week before the coldest in B'ham - Ala vs LSU

snow & ice whatever yr "tater tot" went undefeated at the barn -AU vs AR in Fayetteville. Only reason I went; work & business related - Alabama Power flew a group of us to the game and we came back same day; miserable because it was cold, icy, and the barn won.

Mine was also a Senior Bowl. Don't remember the year, but it was sometime in the 80s. A friend and I were given tickets. The temp during the game was about 15 degrees, the wind was out of the North about 15-20 mph and we were sitting in the south endzone. Blowing right in our faces. We kept going for hot chocolate to try to warm up.
The Senior Bowl has several good candidates for the coldest game I've been to.

The 2000 Iron Bowl was cold and wet but I remember an Iron Bowl in the late 70's that was 28 degrees in the afternoon. It felt much colder. The wind was whipping under the open end of the south end zone. By the time the game ended I couldn't feel my hands or the lower half of my legs.

my coldest game ever was Pitt vs Miami in 2003...last time those two schools played. was a nationally televised night game as winner got the BCS bowl berth to the Orange Bowl. Miami held back both Miree (ex Tide) and Larry Fitzgerald and won by 2 TD

high that day was 28 but since game started at 8pm was in the teens. we had 20-25 mph sustained winds and gusts over 35 mph that was pushing sleet from right to left which basically froze my right cheek. Wind Chill temps were well below zero and my wife vowed to never go to another game. She's since broken that promise many times but will never go to a cold weather game again.

it was absolutely miserable! 2nd coldest game was probably Steelers vs Browns playoff game 2 decades ago. Wasn't sleeting or snowing like the Miami/Pitt affair...was just really damn cold.

1992 SECCG, sat under the upper deck and it was miserable until the ending :)
I was there also. Had good seats though under the covering of the upper deck about 30 yrd line (wasn't it sleeting during part of that game?). Between my chattering teeth, I was laughing at the knuckhead Gatorfans across the way that went the whole game without shirts painted in orange and blue.:D

Washington Redskins at Chicago Bears playoff game in January, 1988. About 12 below zero and wind chill about 30 below zero. Not a Bears fan, but got free tickets from a friend that couldn't use them, so my son and I went. We were both wearing our skiing gear but still froze. Turned out it was Walter Payton's last game.

It's a toss up between 2 games. The '92 SEC Championship game and I don't remember the year but it was when Jay Barker was injured and his back-up played in his place. It was homecoming and the oppenent was Southern Miss. My wife stayed in the ladies restroom the entire game.

Texas Tech's James Gray ran for 280 yards and 4 TDs to beat Steve Spurrier's Duke team 49-21.

December of 1989 was ridiculously cold.
92 consecutive hours of below freezing weather between December 21st and 25th.

The game was actually on the 28th, but it was COLD.

I was wearing a full length down coat but what I needed was a HAT.

Coldest pro-game: Went to a Steelers/Titans game in Nashville right before Christmas a couple of years ago. The wind was cutting like knives.
Mine might've been the same game. We saw the Titans play rt before Christmas a few years back. At kickoff--at 5:00 p.m.--it was in the upper 20s, & dropped throughout the game. As an added bonus, it was windy. Brutal.

1976 and 1982 Liberty Bowls. I can remember buying hotdogs with my dad and getting to our seats and they were already stone cold. We were using paper grocery bags to put our feet in to stay warm (some fans near us brought extra)! The wind coming off of the river in December is no fun!
Liberty Bowl in Memphis sometime in the 1970's. Alabama vs. UCLA. Temperature dropped over 40 degrees from opening kickoff to end of game.

Bama won.

The Liberty Bowl vs UCLA is my answer also. The coldest I've ever been in my life.

36-6 or some score like that. We put on all the clothes we brought and took a couple blankets to cover with.

For me, it's a tie between the 2008 MSU game, or the 2009 South Carolina game. I was wearing multiple layers everywhere on my body and I was still teeth-chattering cold.

I've enjoyed reading these.

Coldest sports event was probably the 1996 Braves-Giants opener. The old Atlana stadium had holes at the top & the wind was blasting in on us. Wind chill was 29 at 1 pm but at least the Braves won.

I was also at the 2007 Armed Forces Bowl (Cal vs AFA). The sun was nice but the wind was awful, cutting into all of us. The most miserable was the 98 MSU game in Starkville. Not only did it rain, not only did we not put up a fight, but three hours of clanging cowbells had me feeling like jumping in the tub with a hair dryer.

Btw - my Dad was outside Riverfront Stadium at kickoff on January 10, 1982, when the Chargers played the Bengals for a berth in SB 16. Said he had his heat cranked and towels blocking all the glass & was still freezing (wind chill -59). The Ohio River literally froze. Every 100 yards cars were broken down.

And another buddy of mine was at the 1991 Colorado-Nebraska game in Boulder with a kickoff temp of 2 degrees. That was even longer since the game ended in a 19-19 tie.

I was unfortunate to have some tix given me for the Freezer Bowl between Cincy and San Diego in 1981 for the AFC Title. Wind Chill of -50, kept warm drinking some sorta warm bourbon punch thing a guy had placed in thermoses.

But I may have beenore miserable at a Pats-Seattle game in December, temps in the 20s, winds in the 20s, and the guy next to me spilled a beer on my leg before teh game started. And the concessions ran out of coffee and hot chocolate by halftime

Mine was a southern miss game, Freddie Kitchen hit Toderick Malone for an 80 yarder or something. It was really cold, and was only mid season. We had a promising new back that later transferred and made his way to the NFL.

He's right. I remember that. My girlfriend and I caused it - the power of prayer. (We've been married over 20 years).
