What is the problem with white helmets?

While I can't really figure out remarks like they look "gay" or "cheap" (???), I'll have to admit that I was pulling for the transfer to the crimson helmets. I'll repeat for the 1000th time that all helmets were white because there was no reliable pigmenting process. That was the primary reason Coach Bryant didn't go to them right away. They (darker helmets) faded in the sun and turned out splotchy. Some one mentioned painting. Well, they tried that too. If you think white helmets look bad from collisions with darker helmets these days, you should have seen what one of those white helmets painted darker looked like after a couple of games...

Although I live in Birmingham and hardly ever miss a game (I did miss homecomming last year for a Ohio State v. Wisconsin and KC v. Green Bay weekend last year), I bet the people that can rarely attend a game could care less about the helmet color, as long as they can watch their beloved Tide on TV.

I've looked and looked at our current uniform and frankly, I can't seem to find any reason to change it, even moderately, and thats including the helmet.

For chrissakes we aren't talking about changing the uniforms we are talking about a single game using a historical uniform!!!!!!

I like the 1929 helmets personally. Mabe we could go back to those.

Are you kidding. White Pony cleats were the greatest.

O.K., here a solution, white helmets for the last time that we play at Legion Field... I think we have one more game there under contract.

If not, homecoming/senior day this year!

A tribute to players of yester-years. White helmets are not a lucky charm; but would show a tribute to past classes.

Can we get Keith Jackson to announce the game?

They would have to be updated to pass the new safety requirements.
