Ever seen that cartoon that shows an employee suggestion box...and on the other side of the wall is a trash can under the slot...?I am sure the SEC has sent out some letters to the AD’s of each programs for the egregious calls and non calls, blown reviews, etc…
Edit: never mindYou cannot be legally drawn offsides by a player who is allowed to move. All 3 Auburn players in motion were players who were allowed to go into motion.
Exactly, you can motion three guys as long as they do it at the same timeYou cannot be legally drawn offsides by a player who is allowed to move. All 3 Auburn players in motion were players who were allowed to go into motion.
That goes both ways. They did a review on a play in the 2019 IB game to see if it was a first down or not that effectively gave Auburn a timeout, plus stopped the clock. Otherwise the clock would have run out before the half. The review plus stopping the clock (which should not have happened) gave them time to get their field goal unit on the field and kick it just before halftime. It was the difference in the game.I'm not going to make a separate thread for this but..
What about the Safety/Pick 6 plays back to back?
They didn't review EITHER.
They just hurriedly rushed to get AU lined up for the final play and then end the game.
I mean look I don't think it was a safety....but REVIEW it.
I've seen the close up of Arnold's foot on the line.... but REVIEW it.
You and I dang well know if you swapped jersey's on those 2 plays Autry's crew is spending 5 mins looking at both plays.
I hate those Sob's
560 am out of Nashville has a retired SEC official (forgot his name ) on most Wednesdays between 6-9 am. I will be shocked if several plays are not addressed from this game . I think the segment is around 7:20am cst but don't hold me to that. It's a popular segment.Totally agree...which point CNS seemed to arguing...I would love to hear a competent official interpret this for us. Know any?
I don't recall him saying that. The same Gary Danielson that said Milroe could step over the LoS, step back behind it, and throw a legal forward pass. And he was an NFL QB ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That would have resulted in a stoppage of play, I believe.... so no justifiable defense there. The only justifiable defense of the ref's on that call is that they thought Turner touched the left tackle before the snap, which he didn't though it was close.. Otherwise, that was a totally botched call.
I thought that AU was trying to do just that...and the officials would have nothing of it...I am grateful as well. After seeing the dirty shots, etc., I have less respect for CHF than ever...if that was possible.I generally agree that the officiating left a lot to be desired, especially on the offside--3 in motion play but I am thankful that in the scuffles and punches that were being thrown late that they didn't decide to skew the SEC Championship by throwing one or more of our players (and perhaps a couple of AU players out of the game and getting them suspended for this week. Not a totally mitigating action for poor officiating but on this point I am grateful.
I understand that is the current rule, but I do feel that it should be reviewed and changed. I feel there is a difference between changing the formation and simulating a snap under the guise of changing formations. You cannot be legally drawn offsides by a player who is allowed to move. All 3 Auburn players in motion were players who were allowed to go into motion.
Yeah - I watched the replay and it was actually Nessler that said it. Danielson kind of corrected him without actually saying he was wrong during the review time.I don't recall him saying that.
Thing is, both Alabama players stopped and were headed back across the LOS. If the QB waits until the motion players reset, Alabama would have been back and there would have been no penalty on anyone. The Auburn QB did not know the rules and called for the snap. That created the double penalty. But the officials blew it.I understand that is the current rule, but I do feel that it should be reviewed and changed. I feel there is a difference between changing the formation and simulating a snap under the guise of changing formations.
The WR was in motion and should have to stop and re-establish himself before changing formations. The TE's made a sharp right turn which simulated a snapped ball. Typically a change in formation is not done with the same urgency of snapping the ball.
Man you got that right.. and that is true for just about any infraction. The lesson to learn is simple - never trust the officials to get it right. Don't jump off sides. Look at the ball, and don't move until the ball moves.
Look at it this way. When the offense breaks the huddle, all eleven players were in motion, and most of them towards the line of scrimmage. Why should Bama have been flagged? Maybe the fact that 3 players were in motion is what drew them offsides.
