What Is Your Favorite Bama Memory?

1990 Bama vs Tennessee. CGS first year and Bama's record 3-3 going into this game. The score was tied at 3-3 and Tennessee drove down the field into FG position with like 20 seconds left. The Vols lined up for their potential game winning kick and then all of a sudden Bama blocked it. The ball rolled 30-40 yards down the other end of the field. Then Bama lined up and kicked the winning FG. I just love that dejected look the Vol fans get when the momentum changes like that!!!

There's been a lot of great moments during Alabama football. Tiffin's kick against AU. Christiansen's kick against TT at the Cotton Bowl. The Catch of Prothro. And many more, but MY FAVORITE moment was when Shaun Alexander annoucned his arrival with a STATEMENT. I remember the game against LSU at Death Valley, I believe, and he ran for 290 yrs against the Tigers. What I remember most was he was a last minute change because Curtis Alexander was scratch due to an injury or something. From that game on, I knew Shaun Alexander was going to be a "great player." He was fun to watch that night.

Mine would have to be the 92 Sugar Bowl. I could not talk for a week. We had tickets in the end zone where all the TD's were made in the 3rd quarter. Remember watching David Palmer take that opening kick off and run right at us. We stayed with my inlaws and I remember my Father-In-Law (LSU) saying "Don't come back tonight all down in the dumps and depressed cause Miami is going to whip your butt". I also remember getting back to their house (sometime in the middle of the night) and waking them all up.

I have two. The first was the Sugar Bowl against Miami. That swarming defense and the play by Teague. I was Jr in high school and I remembering going to school the next day full of excitement. The second was the day I got my acceptance letter in the mail.

My favorite memory besides the 92 championship game, specifically Teague high stepping into the end zone and the goal line stand when I was a boy, is when I was in the band during the 88 season and we had just beat Tennessee
putting them at 0-6. I remember myself and some other members of the drumline starting to chant, oh and six, oh and six, and before long, the entire Bama crowd was screaming it. The only happy person on the VOL side was Phat Phil, who was already plotting his Ides of March for Johnny Majors.

Gainesville 1999

My favorite memory was the 99 Florida game in Gainesville. I remember driving into Gainesville that morning and wondering why I had even bothered making the trip after losing to La Tech only two weeks earlier. Anyway, we all remember the game and all of its twists and turns and how it ultimately finished. Their kicker misses the extra point in OT. Shaun Alexander scores on our first offensive play of the overtime (over left tackle of course), we miss the extra point but the play is negated by a defensive penalty. We make the PAT and the game was over. I have never had more fun at a game than that one. That was back when the band and the fans could hang around as visitors as long as they wanted. What a blast. Every Bama player came through huge that day: Zow, AC, Milons, Samuels & of course Alexander just to name a few. The ride home didn't seem near as long as the ride down. Roll Tide!

Wow lots of good uns out there. I have a few that I didnt see posted. I was 7 or 8 and went to my first Bama game v LSU at Legion Field. It was raining sheets. I got to go in the locker room after the game and shook hands with Jon Hand. I still rembember how big his hands were. My second was the 96 Auburn game, my first Iron Bowl while I was at school there sitting in the student section at Legion Field. I got to meet the Gameday guys as we were waiting to get in the stadium. Sitting in the stands when we got the ball back begging everyone to stands to get up and cheer because I knew we would come back and win...and we did. The next was my last Bama game v Auburn in 98 my last as a student and last game at Legion Field. We got down 17-0 and then took over.

However my best was the Western Ky game this year. I took my 3 year old to his first game. It was his reward for FINALLY going to the potty. He must have told everyone around that he got to see "Roll Tide" because he went to the potty. All the fans around us gave him high 5's and gave him their shakers. I watched him just sit there the whole time in amazement. When we got home that night he gave me a big hug and told me thank you for taking him to see "Roll Tide". Couldnt tell you what the score was or anything about the game, but that was my favorite.

Walking arm in arm with my Dad, who passed this past July, down the ramps of the SuperDome after the Sugar Bowl win over Miami.
Thousands were chanting "Roll Tide"...."Roll Tide"...."Roll Tide"..
Dad looked at me and said.."This is pretty good ain't it"? He was 64 at the time.
Nothing will ever replace that. Greatest Bama moment ever. Complete and total happiness and one of the greatest nights of my life.
