I tried to post this earlier but something happened and it never showed up. My question is how will nexts years class size be affected by the size of this class? Are we way oversigning? If we can't take as many next year will that effect our ranking even if we do get outstanding recruits?

Our ranking will be lower, but Rivals does only rank the top 20 commitments.
We wont have as many spots next year. But for the first time in a while that is great news.

You can sign more than 25, but you can only have 25 show up for fall practice.

It means (read this, 2009 graduates) that if CNS gives an offer, you'd better take it while you can. There are a lot of superheroes out there competing for your spot....

I expect Alabama's 2009 signing class to be just as strong as the 2008 signing class if not better.

So we have 27 now and are after what, 4 more? Are we expectin 6 to not qualify? What happens if more than 25 qualify? I suppose next year we will be limited by the total scholorship number?

I think this is already in another thread, but 2 backcount (C. Jackson and C. Smith). There are 2 or 3 who may not qualify, even though I think all of the commits so far are within striking distance. We could lose Hood to pro baseball and then we could have some that might greyshirt. The numbers will work out. Our next class will not likely fill the 25/ year allotment, but that means that we are starting to reload, a la USC, LSU, OSU.

Actually that number doesn't count Jackson or Smith. I guess that means we will just be even more selective next year. I'm just curious about the 25 limit for fall camp. What if we have more than 25 qualify? We hold them out of camp and make them wait for regular practice to begin?

We can put 25 on scholarship in the Fall. Those that qualify and aren't in that 25 will more than likely come in as greyshirts and join the team for bowl practice or in January. Only the greyshirts and total 85 on scholarship will affect the 2009 signing class.
Under no circumstances can a school have more than 25 members of a signing class (counting towards that year's class) join the team that year. If more than 25 qualify, the coaches will have a plan in place, such as greyshirting. We aren't gonna see 31 new scholarship-players on the team come August.

JMO, but I look for the staff to be VERY selective next year. Nice problem to have, if you ask me.
True,but 2 of this class enrolled early to back count into last years class. This happened b/c we lost a rb to USF,and had Murphy not qualify,which left 2 spots open.
I saw a nice number breakdown from a mod on another site. The 25 seems reachable even signing 33 but the 85 may be a problem to get with out some trimming.
According to popular belief, we could have quite a few BC spots next year.......... :coolgleamA:
What would be wrong wrong with several BS players. If they were NOT "recruited" then they would not count to the 85/25.
The Staff certainly has a plan in place. I honestly believe Saban plans to weed out the bad seeds in this program. I can see a few players being kicked off the team this year. I'd hate hate hate to see it, but if Prince Hall has another setback, he could be gone, and probably anybody else in his doghouse that we don't know about.
