Who do we (UT) hire now??

If I was UT, I would go with John Harbaugh if he would come. Al Golden might also be a good pick. But I probably shouldn't be giving out good suggestions. ;)

With Carroll gone and USC's fall Harbaugh has it made in the PAC 10. Why enter the meat grinder called the SEC when he can hold out for Michigan.

speculation and rumor FAIL
Yeah, speculation and rumor from a pretty reliable source. As if the Texas insiders never miss on anything.

Hubbs and Co. are usually pretty good when it comes to UT sports and don't put many things out there that are just rumor.

Boise State insiders say Chris Petersen's agent was contacted and Petersen declined to interview with Tennessee.
Supposedly there have been "feelers" put out to several coaches. I have no idea who all was contacted. Not sure who all has really been interviewed either. I am pretty sure Muschamp was.

I don't blame anyone calling what I posted on this thread rumor. However, I am convinced that Muschamp while not "interviewed" in the true sense of the word was contacted, showed interest "for the right offer", an offer was put together, he said no.

There are additional rumors that it was due to his family not being on board with the move. There are also rumors that the offer had stipulations he would not sign onto.

longhrnfan can call all of it a "rumor fail" if he wants to. It doesn't hurt my feelings. But I agree with you VolFan1 something happened. Muschamp may very well stay around and end up taking over the head coach position at Texas, but if Georgia comes open before then, and Brown is still looking like he is going to stay around a year or two, I bet Texas fans will be just as nervous about Muschamp as we will be about Smart.

I agree with your post totally.

You are correct. The editor of Orangebloods.com (Texas Rivals' site) was on Bill King this morning on his Sirius Rivals Radio show and said this very thing. They know that Jimmy Sexton (Muschamp's agent and Tenn grad) was contacted and CWM did consider the job, but did decline. The editor (I cannot remember his name) also said that they will not breathe easier until Tennessee has hired someone else. That is the only way to "know for sure" - his words.
